Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Houli been offered a one year deal according to the papers.

Well deserved Bacha.
No surprise. Reckon the club will continue to do the same as a few other clubs in regard to older players. Year by year contracts as long as the form holds up n the player wants to keep going.
Bash's biggest strength is his constant over lap running to create gaps and opportunities for the team. Just let the motor keep burbling along.

Bach is also very good at running into position to intercept or make a contest. Watching his defensive running to cut across and intercept is a joy

Don't know if I missed something but Bash was on the news last night (with his little look alike) and he said clearly he has not received an extension.
So what's the go?
Unless it happened after the interview.
Pauline Hanson anyone?

That was funny. His mini-legend is a Bummers supporter but thinks we're better, and also said marlin (Marlion) is his favourite fish.

I'm surprised we haven't announced any contract for Bash before the papers did.

Bloody time the club pulled the finger out of the date n hit Bash with a new contract. Not only is he still playing quality footy, he's premium value community n culture.

Even he does get an extension is will be on low $$$.
Not convinced he needs to go on next year.
Let him go out on high. 2 time premiership player.
Why should he be on low $$$ zips? He's been one of our most consistent n reliable players this year, short contract due to age i can accept, but he's easily earning his keep.
Bash might want to be a back to back triple premiership player. Long time retired so why not take every possible opportunity that comes along to make the maximum career when things are going well?

I love Houli for he did in the GF. I always remember him as a bloke that started off has an average footballer turning into a reliable half back.
If we win it this year it will be a perfect time for him to hung up the boots. Especially if we are considering adding a player of Crouch’s caliber to the side.

Meh. Not a fan of pushing out core players to bring in numpties from other clubs who just want to tag along on the coat tails of successful clubs. Way to easy to damage the integrity of the team.

It’s the hawthorn mode Tiger.
They constantly added players, Gibson, Hale, Bygyoune, Dew, lake,
Now that we have the premiership window wide open it’s time to try to get 2 or 3 flags before the likes of Cotchin, grimes, Dusty, jack and Castagna are finished.
The side we have currently is good but can get better.

Good idea.
Let’s bring in Petura and delist Teasdale, Jackson and Roberts

I don't mind the theory but the numbers alone suggest there's plenty of positions that require filling more than Houli's. We're still mediocre inside, I'd be looking closely at who we can bring in to help us there.

Hmmm if he stays fit he can't be matched at the moment by anyone in the twos. He has a bit of the lean Shane Tuck look. I wonder how many years he could keep going on a rolling year by year deal?

Really good article in The Age today about Bachar's trip to Christchurch after the shooting massacre there earlier in the year.
Such a decent, solid, compassionate, humble human being is Mister Houli.

Naish and Manadue could cover Houli's role with better footskills.

Downside is time will be spent developing the understanding of the role that Houli currently fulfills.
