Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Happy to see Bash get another year if he wants it, just an honest hard working consistent player who gets maximum out of himself every time.

Yep. Great game last night. He was everywhere for the link-up. Besides the brain fades, a very important player for us and I'm sure he'll be a great mentor off-field for whoever takes his spot when he retires.

He'll always have a couple of brainfades each game - but he's class, hard running and hard working every game. One of the first picked every week.

Really hope he can squeeze out another season or two.

Given some soft tissue injuries I reckon we may only get one more season out of Houli, but he is a definite retain if his body holds up. He is a very important part of our team and also adds off-field value too.

Thought he gave an indication he will retire at the end of the year when Richo interviewed him tonight.

I got the same vibe. Also he was on one of the footy shows on Sunday morning and he was working the angle about putting more time into his off field foundation.

If true and he times his announcement right after round 24, it could be the team lifter we seek heading into the finals ala the Dusty re-signing in 2017.

Bachar Houli continued his fine form on Saturday night, finishing with 32 disposals, five rebound-50s, three inside-50s, seven marks, four tackles and 523 metres gained

The "old man" just keeps getting the job done.

I didn’t know who Simmons was either?
The only Simmons I know is GENE

Imagine how much better we'd be if we had dropped Houli back in 2016.

Surely you're a Richard Simmons fan Zips...

Kept his detractors quiet for another week.

This distractor (much better than hater) will keep quite if he uses the ball as well as he did on the weekend. For the role of the distributor, I rate his game on the impact of his disposals, he impacted pretty well on the weekend.

I'm more than happy to talk of Bachar in glowing terms if its warranted.

He uses it that way more often than not. The detractors just can't see it as they concentrate on any mistake he makes.

“He impacted pretty well on the weekend”
Hardly glowing.
Say no more

Sorry, I should have made that clearer, I didn't rate his game as glowing.

I have him easily in the 22, but also easily replaced - that's all. When push comes to shove, I think the club sees it that same.

It is true, detractors will focus too heavily on the mistakes, equally the brightsiders will be inclined not to listen to alternate points of view.

I'm not referring to the disposal mistakes, the ball use I'm refering to is the willingness and ability to find targets. I feel that Houli is attempting and finding targets moreso in recent weeks. The kickout strategy is an example of this and there has been a clear change to find closer targets and retain the ball. I call this improved ball use.
