Peter Burge confirmed that Bachar has a groin strain which will keep him out till after the bye, big blow. That would mean 5 weeks on the sidelines until we play the Swans after the bye. His drive & tank off half back will be missed. Starting to become a little too injury prone with his soft tissue injuries.

Yeah, there is a tough call coming up. Out of contract, missing a few games but vitally important. Gives so much drive. Genuine loss. I would hope he stays another year on reduced cash. Menadue & Markov haven't stepped up enough to grab the role right now. It's a gap in the list in terms of having players ready to slip into the AFL but we have drafted for the role.

I guess the positive in this is we get a chance to see how the team goes without Houli - as much as I love Houli’s work - we taste life without him and hopefully Markov or Menadue get an extended run

I think Houli and Grigg will both go around for one more year in 2019. I think we're better placed to cover Houli; Short seems to have taken over the role of designated rebounder this season anyway.

Grigg is a little trickier given his ability to play inside and outside. Probably need one of C. Ellis or Menadue to step up.

Yep. Sometimes these things are a blessing in disguise.

Can't believe Bash has reached 30. Still think he's mid-20s.

Re: Bachar "Premiership Player" Houli

It’s Ramadan at the moment so at least Bachar doesn’t have to deal with playing through the fasting period !

We miss him when he isn’t there but I suspect BEllis will get the first crack at the role

I don't come to this site often enough anymore.

Who the hell are Grub and Bobble?

Bobble is Brandon Ellis, Grub is Grimes...I think

Re: Bachar "Premiership Player" Houli

No concerns with him going around again if he wants it.
Playing good footy but likely to have injury restricted seasons.
Still others ahead of him at the departure gate and we dont need to cut deep.

On the afl app as part of the match build up they had the last two minutes of the Richo robbed by hands in back free.

Houli was in there in Bomber colours. Don't think there were any other survivors from 2007 ...

Didn't miss him anywhere near as much as I thought we would. Ellis stepped up & Menadue worked his way into the game well.
Bigger tests are to come over the next month, hopefully the incumbents can step up in Houlis absence allowing him the extra time to be cherry ripe when he returns.

'Twas Jack's debut.

Edwards and Deledio.
Ryder for Essendon.

Gee that Richmond list takes some reading .... Howat, Kingsley, Meyer, Pattison.

Stop it, 23 ... almost shudder reading that list.
Those dire days are behind us now, thankfully

Re: Bachar "Premiership Player" Houli

This bloke is seriously underrated.

We missed him last night.

He breaks the lines and gives us much needed run from half back. Not to mention his overlapping runs to help our mids.

Aside from Martin this bloke is our most important player in how we want to play the game.

Yep very undervalued. Also means bellis goes back to the seconds
