Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Re: Bachar "Welcome Back Bacher" Houli

Thought his disposal was mostly sloppy and he fumbled a fair bit - not his best game

Re: Bachar "Welcome Back Bacher" Houli

I'm not a Houli hater and believe when he's on he's definitely in our best 22, but despite him being named in our best in round 22, i was worried by his game.
He's still double guessing before releasing the ball, which is putting him under pressure that wouldn't be there if he took an option instinctively.

I'd be interested to see the stats on the number of clangers to players he's given off too, as at the moment he is getting himself into the sh!te and then handing the hot potato to someone else.

He's also having issues getting a handle on the pill. Sad really, because before he was rubbed out, he was in pretty good touch, so i hope it comes back pretty quick.

Re: Bachar "Welcome Back Bacher" Houli

IMHO despite all Bachar's positives I crap myself when he is one on one with anyone as he will lose it 80-90% of the time. Some other soldiers like Grimey Grub, you sit in your seat easily. For a backman you need to keep your supporters in their seat and if you do that then you can add your jack flash moments.

Whilst Bachar runs all day he looks good on the loose and that's is not enough for me.

Yup.

I get called a hater but this is pretty much my knock on him. He's a stats man's wet dream. An outside accumulator with a massive tank. His instincts are okay but they are wafer thin. If his 1st option is shut down his next move is usually a train wreck. He turns inside but everyone knows he prefers foot to hand and only has a left so he is easily pressured. He gets flustered and coughs it up. His tank means he'll get get it again and probably in space and Houli in space with time to use his left is a thing of beauty. But that's a luxury. Luxury is for dessert. Gotta make it through dinner first.

Re: Bachar "Welcome Back Bacher" Houli

Tivendale in space with time to use his left was a thing of beauty about 1 in 4 kicks and Houli's left is not much different.

I guess that's why we have one of each. Grub to kill the contest and his opponent, Bachar to hoover up the pill n run like crazy to open up the field. Rarely see Bachar dominating a physical contest or shutting down an opponent. Rarely see the Grub hooning off downfield n opening up spaces.
Simply a matter of horses for courses n we've got a good one of each in the back half.

I've got a feeling that the knock on Short ws not getting up the ground far enough when the opportunity presented.

Houli has been doing it a lot more the last few games, and Short has in the seconds. Houli could have snagged 3 against the Hawks.

Houli is our Achilles heal. Weak link. Panic merchant

Totally agree with this, too many times this year I've seen him not go when its his turn.
His kicking is no better than average and his decision making is woeful.
Panic merchant is spot on.

That so called 'left foot' is unreliable. He miss's from set shots, his kicking on the run is no better either

Re: Bachar "Welcome Back Bacher" Houli

Which Houli will show up today? The panic merchant or good contributer? A bit of both I suppose!

That's what usually happens, ST.

If we win by a big margin he will do well because there will be no pressure and he is a front runner. If it's a nailbiter or we get thrashed he will be one of the worst on ground because never stands up in big games. I still believe he is the one player that needs to be replaced in our side to go anywhere in September.

Re: Bachar "Welcome Back Bacher" Houli

He's been clean so far, a real asset actually.

Coughed up one rushed kick out of defense on the wrong foot, most others would have coughed that one up too.

Hope he keeps it up, because we need him on.
