Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Re: Bachar "Welcome Back Bacher" Houli

Houli WILL NOT be dropped for the Dockers game.

Re: Bachar "Welcome Back Bacher" Houli

Doesn't do himself any favours with another poor game against a high ranked team. He clearly struggled with the narrower ground to get spacw and, as a result, was always under pressure and as usual struggled with it

Houli is an AFL politically correct, multi-social PR wet dream that is not lost on the Richmond hierarchy and that is why, irrespective of how poorly he plays, he’s a walk-up start every week.

Simple really but he is a liability and so is the coach that puts politics before form – it will be found out on the field!

Whilst the first part of your statement is nauseatingly true, that the AFL, Richmond and the media have a created a Houli cult whom they love to force down our collective necks, I suspect the second point is a bridge too far. He is not held to account for his performances the way some other players are simply because he is a senior player and automatic selection. All clubs have them and unfortunately he is one of ours. He'll have to play a lot worse and for a lot longer before they even consider looking at him.

Re: Bachar "Welcome Back Bacher" Houli

I would rather Conca or Short for finals tbh. I've said it before - Houli and Short were playing heir best footy when both were in the side. Short allowed Houli to focus on purely being a runner and attacker which he was doing brilliantly before the suspension. When he went out Short was trying to not only be lock down defender but also that run and carry link man and it didn't work as well for him.

Re: Bachar "Welcome Back Bacher" Houli

Hasn't been the same since the suspension. He often runs to the right side of the contest which then severely limits his disposal.

Always done it. Drives me nuts. Also likes to run across one of ours when they are about to take a kick. A lot of me, me ,me and not much thought about the next phase of play.

It's so disheartening to know what will happen with Houli in a pressure game and they keep on picking him and the hive mind just keep on accepting it and worse supporting it.

If Short was allowed to play Houli's role, not a hybrid version but pure link man and attacking run off the wing then we'd be a much better side. Short's a tremendous kick, isn't afraid to win his own footy and doesn't panic when the heat comes.

Houli has been serviceable since crossing from Essendrugs but it's time to blood a successor, one that brings more to the table than Houli ever has.

Re: Bachar "Welcome Back Bacher" Houli

As one sided a player as there is in the comp . As others have said gets caught on the wrong side of the contest as is pretty much useless. Shorts ability to go both ways markedly improves our chances of transitioning out of 50 with more urgency even if his efficiency has been down of late

yep, its between his ears. has the ability imo, should not have missed those 2 set shots. Even the one he got the wind brought it back in :)

I think they expected Short to play the role,he just didn't take his oppurtunity, I think Houlis role is not as easy as some would have you believe, the amount of footy Houli gets is not just by bludging out the back ,it's by covering big territory and running hard, no doubt Houli was poor yesterday and some of his kicking and fumbles are bloody frustrating, however Short, Markov and others have simply not earnt Houlis spot yet.

I'll stand corrected however i don't think Houli gets a lot of goals kicked on him? I think it was said that Short was getting goals kicked on him. I'd be more inclined to give Short, Butlers spot not Houlis at this point

It's Groundhog Day with bachar. Just doesn't handle pressure. Another great runner but you get the same sort of errors.

And yet plenty on here reckon he's an AA standard half back. It's crazy.

Re: Bachar "Welcome Back Bacher" Houli

Late in the season to do it but to win a final we need to drop Houli, CEllis, Grigg and Soldo and bring in Short, Graham and if they can get a couple of VFL games under their belts, Conca & Griffiths. Im just over Houli especially, i just knew he wouldnt kick those goals by the way he holds the ball coming in to kick. Even rather see Lennon given another go than have to watch Houli again.

Should've got 12 weeks suspension would've been a benefit to us.
The AFL always screws hs
