We could go full WWF mode.

21 players run out, the lights dim, the announcer intones ominously...

"And now the moment you've all been waiting for
The Beard That's Feared
The Sheikh Of Sleep
The Imam Of The Lamb Slam
The ferocious, the deadly... Bachar... HOULI!!!!"

Houli storms onto the arena, live chained tigers on either side pawing the air, strobe lights flashing, while 120 decibels of Enter Sandman thunders from the MCG's PA system.

Somehow I don't think Bachar would go for it.
:clap :hihi :clap :hihi :rofl :rofl :hihi :clap

not bad! I'd change Enter sandman for some Islamic Prayer song remixed over some massive beats though.

Also, as someone tweeted (something like this), the AFL is appealing to an AFL appointed panel, against a decision by an AFL appointed panel that had a decision referred to it by another AFL appointed panel.

Unfortunately the AFL is so far up it's own jacksie that they'll just rummage around for a bit n they'll be bound to find something they like. Won't matter to them how bad it smells, they'll still wave it around like they've found treasure.

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

Chris Scott getting involved. Winger of a coach from Geelong.

Blobbo on SEN stating that this has become a race, religion & politics agenda not the player. Fears that Houli will go through what Goodes did upon his return.

The guy is inciting the ferals and racists out there.

Hearing has begun.

LTRTR funny stuff there on a dim , rainy day in Melb

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

geez, can everyone stop harping on his chosen religion?

it's like a bunch of schoolkids in here. carrying on about it, even in jest, just emphasizes an embarrassing lack of understanding. not what Bachar would want at all.

Bachar's religion is as much a part of this tribunal process as the Catholicism of any number of other AFL players.

Thank you, agree 100%

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

Yeah but no one else has used their religion in their tribunal defence. Bachar made it a topic.

Irreverence is an Australian tradition. That goes for your religion, my religion or the person next door's religion. Religion is funny.

Anyway, the AFL presented an updated medical report from Carlton stating Lamb has ongoing headaches and has been unable to train, but the Board has excluded it from the evidence.

Yes - it's a kangaroo court- the AFL have already said what they want from it - a massive increase in penalty.

I simply cannot stomach it when the AFL meddle - whether it's with the rules, the roster, the draft - they can't help themselves.

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

Trial by media, houli intentions were to break away by punching his hands, something he does weekly,
Amazing clean record, misjudged, does fantastic community work, don't tell me the same actions from a scum with a long record isn't different, judges consider past behaviour and background regularly, 2 was right for unintentional action.

Reading the live blog I think our counsel is doing an amazing job. Points being made from our side are excellent. However this is the AFLand reason and accountability may not count for much.

One one of these blogs they said we'd put forward a compelling case and it looked like Jake King was going to be cleared.

Agree. There is a fundamental difference between laughing at someone's religion and thinking they are not as good as you or a bad person because of that religion. Plus your joke was about owning it, getting in their faces. Besides, its pretty obvious this circus is due, at least in part, because of Bachar's religion. Can't ignore it.

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

you blokes aren't gettin' it.

stop defining Houli by his religion.

he's a man, a footballer, possibly a gamer, a dude who likes raspberry bullets.

who the *smile* cares?

why do you blokes keep going on about it?

Re: Bachar "The Nice Guy" Houli

Talk about double standards from the AFL, why didn't they appeal when Barry Hall smashed whoever it was, but was acquitted & allowed to play in the grand final.

Oh that's right, they wanted their then favourite team to win a flag.

I wonder if the same thing would happen one of the Giants lesser lights was in the same situation as Houli leading into a grand final, I really doubt that that they would say a single word.
Probably would appeal saying he should get off.

Yeah, sounds like Toovs is killing 'me

Love the 'there was no objection to the tendered references on Monday night' line

But The AFL will just do what they want

Yeah I realise that but he's ripping the AFL counsel a new one.
