Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

Tough marker Big Cat. Black is very good on his right for leysy. Very accurate & can hit up a target under pressure consistently without him or the receiver breaking stride.

Did it on the weekend actually as he's done for 10+ years. Great kick.

Agree, I went to a Lions-Dogs game at the Gabba about 5 years ago and saw Black hemmed in on the boundary line, unable to use his left and he unleashed

a 50m right foot kick to a forward on the lead at full tilt. Still one of the best kicks I have witnessed. He has so much time with the ball and rarely makes a

bad decision. He's a gun.

Just on Bachar, he is top 12 in the comp for score involvement, is actually tied with Shaun Grigg on 22. (Dustin Martin is third overall)

Just underscores how important those two have been as linkmen.

Really couldn't be happier with the pair of them.

Browsing through this stat (score involvements) I was staggered to see Reece Conca ranked at 21 overall. For a first year player who is not getting a stack of the pill and is only just starting to get extended runs in the midfield, it just shows the quality that happens when he is involved. Chuck in Nathan Foley at 16, Robin Nahas at 26 and Trent Cotchin at 30 and it's not hard to see where the improvement in ball movement is coming from compared to last year.

Three players who were not at the club last year (Grigg, Houli & Conca) and four that have vastly improved there efforts from 2010 (Martin, Cotchin, Foley & Nahas). It's a massive turnaround in the midfield. And all are smart users of the ball. Someone in the media needs to be the first to write the story of Richmond's skill improvement. It's not a finished product but it's a huge turnaround in one summer.

I've just brought Reece into my SC team. I reckon he's going to get better and better as the year progresses.

His numbers should. I have had him since day dot and it has been a slow burn numbers wise but you can see the improvement playing wise. Getting better quickly. I would hope that for the rest of the year he does not spend any time on the last line of defence. Back flank, wing, half forward and some slight centre sqaure work should be the mantra for the rest of the year.

How does this stat work? Is it looking at every score (goal or behind) and taking the players involved in the score from the point of the most recent stoppage or from the most recent contested posession?

It's astonishing we have so many in the top 30 given we're not a particularly high-scoring side.

Or maybe other teams share the scores more and we need even more avenues to goal.

Got to hand it to Bashir - after being critical of his lack of effort against Hawthorn, thought he played a ripper v Lions.
Now want to see him doing it against the powerful teams - this weekend would be nice.

We now regularly have less errors and higher disposal efficiency that our opponents in games, despite having a high risk game plan. But of course that’s too complex for the media, who like the simplistic stereotype that Richmond lose because it’s full of butchers.

Btw where are the score involvement stats?

more stats...oh please where will it end...

Yeah, ridiculous. If Richmond stopped using stats we'd save ourselves a heap of money.

We're currently 7th average score per match, 6th if you take away Cartlon's game against Gold Coast which has inflated their average score immensely.

If it going by totals we've played a game more than most teams as well.

That stat does suit Bachar as well, as he's used as an outlet into attack. So most of his possessions are uncontested forays forward which lends itself to an unbroken chain.

Saying that he's playing good footy the past few weeks & looks an upgrade on Tambling who's role he's taken. Especially when you consider the relative draft picks we exchanged for each.

So Leysy Navy Leysy, Houli or Collins. Who would you rather have at RFC ?

Not really a fair comparison considering it was Grigg for Collins. To answer your question though Houli by the length of the straight.

I only bring that comparison up because the pro-Collins brigade claimed that if we had bargained better, we could have got Grigg for free so it was really about Houli or Collins.

There's still a pro-Collins brigade?
