Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

I think he needs to continue upwards and grow better like the rest of the team....

That's the thing with these trades of guys who were already established at a previous club... They kind of reached their limit within that group, but when they join up with a young, developing side, they need to treat themselves as 21, 22 year olds in certain ways....

I like how both Grigg and Houli have stepped up and led the way on the field in a way they didn't quite do at their previous clubs... So you wouldn't want to lose that... But joining a really young group is a chance for them grow their skill even further like the young kids around them..

One person who really needs to adopt that type of thinking is Miller.... He's not so old that he can develop his game... Even the commentators were like "Richmond knew what they were getting with him, and that's what he's been giving"...
I think he's capable of a bit more than he's given... He could be a bit more of a leader up forward. He needs to mature and slot his goals more accuratelly. He could have had 4 or 5 goals during the North game with a little more composure...

But just the main point is, when you come to a new club, you can't just bring what you had at the previous club and leave it at that... You have to grow with everyone around you....

Grigg has already shown wants to go above himself at Richmond, Houli I feel is going to head in the same direction, and hopefully Miller can do the same and be one of those players who commentators use words like "reinvented" "rejuvenated"... Don't see why any of these new guys can't be along side the top guys at our club....

His foot skills in traffic are poor, which will lead to a lot of "I thought this bloke was meant to be a good kick" calls.

But I reckon in almost every game he has played for us in time and space he has some kicked some magnificent long and precise ground splitting kicks that noone else on our list can do.

Agree with this.

Also lacks strength in the tackle, never gets his hands free and ends up coughing the ball up and still goes to ground too often.

But his best game for the club and in the best half dozen tigers on the ground.

Great post Dizzy. Hit several nails on the head with that one.
I agree. Houli had played less than 30 games, Grigg played just over 40 before they came to us. They both hadn't established themselves at their previous clubs, more likely their confidence and self belief will grow as they become more familiar with their team-mates, coaching structures, faith and trust and the like. Hopefully with such a young group around them, they will improve individually and so will the team. At the moment, they, like most of their team-mates are still learning.

definitely his best game for the club. did what we drafted him for. pleased with how he's going so far, especially as we got him for 0.

feel he can work on things though. was one instance where the ball headed for the boundary going out. Boomer Harvey charged after it, Bachar just ambled assuming it was going out. the ball held up and by the time Bachar realised it was staying in he had given Boomer enough time to gather and send it i50 where it resulted in a goal. if he had of charged after Boomer i'm sure he could of prevented this ensuring the ball went out of play.

its simple things like this that make you a better player. i feel this could make a big difference in his game. i don't expect him to be at the bottom of every pack but expect him to work hard when his turn to go presents.

extremely happy with grigg and very happy with houli to..both excelent pick ups..watching the replay last night, houli seemed everywhere and played some great link up footy.....geeee with batchelor and reece conka weve done well with last years pick ups

I havn't watched the Brisbane game yet.. Will download the replay when it's up on AFL.com tomorrow...

But just hearing his stats, sound like he had another great game... 31 or 32 possessions, but the most important thing 89% kicking efficiency.... Literally hitting his target 9 our of 10 times... :clap

If there is one area of our game that will have the biggest impact going forward by cleaning up, it's well thought out, intelligent disposals that keep the ball in the possession of the tigers.. Another thing I noticed is he doesn't often sell another player into trouble.... Successfully handballing/kicking to a team mate is one thing,,, doing it in a way where he's not getting involuntarily cleaned up by a tackle a second after receiving the ball is another...

Definitively when we play this clean football, we go forward and score.... Unfortunately we have some MAJOR lapses in this area..

But Houli is really setting a good example...

:clap

Love his Barry Cable handball. That was never talked about much when we got him. Its a real weapon.

Looks like a good team player. Only knock is that his tackles are a little timid. Prime example was the one handed jumper pull whilst Luke Power turned and kicked a crucial goal. If BH had of tackled like King then Power would not have had the opportunity.

He played really well :clap

Has poise and accuracy that many others will never have (Edwards!!!)

I've been longing for the racking / accurate pass since Leon Cameron left us.

Tonight I saw hope ;)

Played a terrific game tonight . He is a great outlet for the transition from back to forward . He played that role exceptionally well .

I felt secure when he had the ball , his disposal was very good by both hand and foot.

I still think that he will play better when we are playing better , thats the nature of outside players , but the role he is playing is exactly what we recruited him for.

Well done Basher another great game. :clap :clap
Bashers kicks were exceptional hitting players on the chest at will, went in when it was his turn to go and was an excellent team player .

Played quite well again tonight. However, was he on Power in the 3rd quarter? Whoever it was Power cut them to shreds; need to be a lot tighter on players like that.

Yeah he was on Power at some stage I think. I do worry that he won't ever be what we want him to be defensively, but his kicking is such a deadly weapon. I like him off half-back but maybe not playing on such a dangerous player in Power.

Hard to knock a guy when Power kicks 2 or 3 of his goals as opportunistic snaps around the corner. If he had been lagging behind marks on the lead I could understand.

Great game from Houli tonight. He is the link up work has been very good. Rarely missed a target tonight. Playing his role beautifully.
