Bachar Houli - بشار حولي,

In the final minute when it was his turn to back into a pack and spoil a mark, I had no doubt he would do it. Good on him for getting the best out of himself.

Not sure he's had a history of shirking it when he's had to back into packs. Does it routinely, albeit without oozing confidence. Won't ever be the sort who runs through brick walls, but it takes all types to make a team.

Been a bit off the last couple of weeks. Did a couple of good things, but Saturday was his worst game for a while. If we'd lost they'd have come for him, and justifiably so.

Guess the other twenty one players on the team had perfect games then.

Not making a lot of sense there TM.

No player can cop any criticism, because we don't have 22 players playing perfect games?

Houli has a few key flaws in his game. Regardless of whether Taylor Hunt turns it over.

I've stuck up for him in the past. Much needed and having a huge year. However he had a couple of contests he wouldn't be proud of that lead directly to Essendon goals at crucial times. Agree that it probably was close to his worst game this year.

I've backed Houli enough times to be able to make a criticism. Whether it was the big crowd, the game style or playing against his former club, the old Bachar jitters were back on Saturday.

I did also notice a few mistakes from Bachar.

What I also saw was that he went at his next contest determined to make up for his error. He took a strong mark at half back following an error that lead to a Dons goal. Tells me he doesn't go into his shell, want to make up for his mistakes immediately. I like that.

Seems to me there's a pack that grudgingly give Bachar support when he's playing his arse of n among our best week in but " justifiably " pounce as soon as he makes an error or has a bad night. Start dragging out the fumbles n footsteps comments.
Every player has flaws in his game n sometimes when they're having a bad hair day the mistakes might be more noticeable but to constantly drag out the soft, jittery footsteps insinuations is pretty feeble in my opinion.

It's not a personal issue with Houli, but he needs to pick his moments.
They had one goal with three minutes left before half time: and he didn't attack the footy, so they scored a goal.
Then another.
Thry went into half time feeling great instead of sh!t because of that non-effort.

And Houli knew he'd stuffed up.
Then he came out in the second half and caused a couple of turnovers - with courage - that resulted in Tiger goals.

Yep. He turned it up, DDT. And the timing was real bad.

That's how he keeps his fans, poppa. He lifted. We need him to play a blinder this weekend.

If you're going to imply I'm a chronic Bachar basher, please cite supporting evidence. I asked rimau35 to do this re: White and he vanished like Essendon's records.

Our overall efficiency is improving because Bachar is getting less of it.

Noticed he only had one inside 50 and that is a plus for us. The change in game plan away from just handballing from a mark to a Houli or Martin sweeping with no target identified to assessing our options is working a treat.

Bachar has played more within his limitations and again that works to our advantage because his usual run gun and kick it anywhere plays have diminished.

Bachar will always cost us in pressure situations but at least the damage he causes us with the ball is lessened.

He is actually very good in the air for a small and if he can tidy up his rabbit in the headlights moments he might hold his spot short term.
