I thought he went alright for where he is at. Took a few good marks in defence, and I didn't see any howlers. Offering at least as much as Graham, and at a significantly younger age.

Agree.....jeez sum r tough judges on here

Skipper made Graham look like a local level ruckman last week. Browne is a mile in front of him now. He is younger, he takes marks, and does tap to advantage when he wins a tap out.

Clearances last 7 games without Gus 245

Clearances prior 7 games with Gus 278

The Gus Man is not our next premiership ruckman but his bustle around the stoppages is missed.

Stop the Gus farce !

There's a few farces that could be stopped this weekend.

The Gus farce
The Goo farce
The Morton farce
The Tuck farce
The Webberly farce

No mentions of a Miller or Nason farce but I'm sure there not far away.

I'd plough on with Graham and Browne for another year and take a draft ruck and a rookie. We need more class mids and a HFF before worrying about a ruck. Throw everything at a ruck in 2 years when we might be ready for finals.

maybe we should keep big gus, has he can sustain huge injuries, loosing :cupgold :cupgold :cupgold :hihi both legs wont effect his game, has he stands still most the time

Gus is scared

he hates body contact

Browne although no where ruck wise at the moment gives everything he has, which although little at the moment, i still prefer to see in RFC jumpers than what Gus does .......

from the coburg report:

Angus Graham
Again was the dominant ruckman on the ground, winning 40 hit-outs. Constantly gave the team’s midfielders first use of the ball in the tough, slippery conditions. Provided a contest on occasions around the ground, and his tackling pressure increased after half-time, to help shut the opposition out of the game.

Thats the one.

In his position it is the No 1 pre-requisite. Its why he isnt playing AFL at the club with the worst current rucks in the land.

At the Carlton pre-game address, I asked Brendon Lade if there was any chance Gus would get a recall. While not ruling Gus out, he indicated that Browne was more predictable around the ground and that they might be looking for to bolster ruck stocks at the end of the year. I could be wrong but I got the impression that they've seen enough of both Gus and Browne. Add to that Gus not getting the call when named as emergency with Browne out.

With all that's been posted, I truly wonder where we'd be if we HADN'T taken Tyrone Vickery with our pick no.8 in 2008?

There was enormous pressure at the time to pick elsewhere.

Could not agree more. But working in tandem with Browne may well work in the future. BigRed has an appetite for it and literally wore down Leuenberger against the Lions, and Vickery came in late and did as he liked. Only one speed for BigRed, but he'd still be going if they didn't turn the lights out ;D

I cant stand how all these "expert commentators" kept saying that the tiges should have played gus.

gus not getting picked with big sauce injured, must have been the BIGGEST reality check this big guy could have ever received.....

hopefully now he shows the appropriate response
