Got the hiding we feared he'd get last week. Conditions conspired against him and he looked buggered by half time, but six games into his career, he should be playing as a relieving ruck; instead, together with Vickery we've got two part-timers doing it all.

Club is hopefully committed to securing a ready-made ruck at season's end.

spot on. we are still two good players away from being a decent team. ruck & KPD

more like 8 players , need to keep drafting a heap of kids each year (10 or so when you take into account the rookie draft)

If Browne was five inches shorter on pure football ability he would be kicking the dew for Upper Mangangatang Reserves.

Gus would be in the seniors so give him a go!!!!

this means though you need to turn over just as many players...pretty hard to find 8-10 players to get rid of on such a young list

I said taking into acount the RD , 5-6 picks in the ND and fill up the Rookie list which should mean about 10 or so players i think...

going back to coburg to gain form is not a bad thing. form at coburg must be rewarded. it would not be a bad idea to keep rotating browne and graham through coburg in order to gain form and confidence. the correct decision for next game would be to reward graham and let browne find form at coburg. both are confidence players.

What I can't stand is not rewarding form at coburg (ie webberly) and gifting games to players who showed nothing at coburg (ie Miller, Nason, Farmer). Hislop should also be rewarded for his efforts at coburg.

If Coburg plays again next week harry you might just get your wish, plenty of mediocre efforts against Port last night would surely open the door for the Coburg players.
Is sloppy still on the rookie list? There's room for an injury elevation during the next week if he's to get a run.

will go close to i guess. be interesting to see which rookies we persist with...

I'll call any player a dud that warrants it, but now having read the new post 'Personal Attacks' from the Admins (who have now stopped any replies!)....doesn't the title of this thread constitute "a personal attack"....Re: "Cardboard Cut-Out'

Come on Mods....you know you've made a mess of that contract thread post up top.

It's unworkable.
Because you couldn't have one poster disagreeing with another AND you certainly couldn't have a poster calling a player a spud.....or cardboard.

Come on Mods, take down your silly thread about Personal Attacks.
Think this through.
It's the web, and you host a website about judging, critiquing, supporting & disagreeing with a football club and its players.
Even the title of this software...says, "Forum". Not polite hero worship....but "Forum"
Which is a Noun that means, A public meeting or assembly for open discussion

Trying to adhere to what you think and what a forum actually is, has sent you potty.
You'll end up having no posts except 'Training Times' :rotfl

Keeping it real.
Cheers

Why have people written off Gus .......

Has shown he has what it takes to become an accomplished AFL ruck.......

The ranga didn't cover himself in glory tonight but he is young and could still become something special.....

Young rucks have ups and downs ..... LIVE WITH IT PINHEADS !!!!!

Totally agree Bignige. Gus has shown he has the ability, browne is raw but has potential. Can't understand people writing Gus off (and now they'll be out for Browne I guess) before they play another 2-3 years. They will take time. As will the whole side. Patience is the key, these calls for getting rid of them are ridiculous

Have not watched the game so correct me if the stats are deceiving, but it would appear Browne has been smashed in the ruck and around the ground again. From anyone who watched the game how did he go, because I still believe his performances over the past couple of weeks have been no better than how Graham was playing.

Browne actually wasn't too bad, although no idea why we're talking about him in a thread about Gus.

Browne took some decent marks overhead, and had an influence at times on the contest. Rarely can we say that about Gus, which is sad cause I like the big fella.

Because I went through 5 pages and could not find the Browne thread ;D

If you offer little around the ground as a ruckman you would at least hope you win the hitouts. He gets smashed weekly in both areas.

browne was pretty good tonight. looneyburger was better, but browne did his bit, took some marks, gave some handballs and fought hard for the ball.

Weekly? You do realise he's only played 5 games?

Browne played WELL tonight!

Clealry improving - and the commentators made a very legitimate point that GUS will struggle to get back into the team.

Sure do.

How else would you like me to describe the past 5 weeks?

I might eat my words in 12 months time but I have not seen anything to suggest he could be the ruckman we are crying out for going forward. The modern day ruckman racks up 20 touches a game and you have confidence they will use the ball well. Browne just makes you nervous when he goes near the ball.

Mind you I might eventually watch the reply from tonight and but he sounds of things see something I haven't for the past 5 weeks.
