Also has a bigger tank than Leuenberger, Goldstein or Wood. Gus has to keep him honest around the ground.

or eye rake him like tambling did

I have mentioned this already about TV... Angus is our main tall that needs to stand up in the contested marking stakes... gotta do it! Will make him a less maligned player and more damaging of course.

Goldstine was not completely smashed by Sandi, maybe there is a tiny bit of hope that Gus can be competitive

Just reckon I should bump this - personally thought Graham was instrumental in the win. Sandilands was BOG to half time but Graham continued to work and was heavily involved around the ground. Loved his goal. Well done big Gus, played your heart out and ran the big man off his legs.

Had a very good second half. Was outgunned by Sandilands, who also had a fair amount of help from the umpires, but fought well.

Same thoughts. Looks like Sandilands can push in the back whenever he wants to.

Gus is battling on well this year - he is no star ruckmen but slowly getting better. I thought it was his best game of the year today.

Flogged.

But didn't give up and got in some counter punches that were important for us in the third. He kicked one and set up another when the game was in the balance.

There wasn't much Angus could do to stop Sandi.
Happy with Graham's game tbh.

Agree. But where he could have an effect on the game he did. His kicking was great, his work rate around the ground was great. Sandilands got the points but Gus did enough damage to almost negate him.

Well done Goose

Sandilands had spent all his tickets by half way through the third. So had most of his teammates. Angus just kept on plugging away and had a real impact. His goal at the end of the third was crucial.

SPOT ON..just watched the replay and yes sandilands can push graham in the back over and over and over again and never give away a free kick..but god help anyone who touchs sandilands..the umpiring was pathetic in this regard tonight..
i thought graham played a stellar game in the second half and was very improtant around the ground. he is coming along very nicely..yet another in a long list of tiger players who is improving really nicely..(geeee who isnt improving week by week at tigerland??)

Agree, the umpiring at the bounce was terrible. The umpire goes into the game knowing Sandilands will dominate, so keeps a keen eye on anything that impedes him. No attention is payed at all to what might happen to Gus.

Gus's performance on Sandilands was his best to date. And, crucially, he stopped Sandilands from getting a clean tap to advantage, usually.

He fluffed a bit with his dirty hands but our man keeps getting better and is never beaten, regardless of he quality of opposition.

A ruck must never be beaten. (A bit like a footballer.) Gus keeps getting better.

I noticed this too. It was almost like the umpires had decided that nobody could beat Sandilands to the ball, so if they won the ballup, they must have infringed him. Don't watch enough of Freo to know whether this happens all the time.

I thought Gus was great for a guy who was smashed in the ruck contest. He certainly didn't put his head down and sook it. His stuff around the ground was fantastic. He'll make it I think.
