Nor here. :p

Just quietly, the only reason Jimbob never rated him was that he was that he was physically threatened by him. :theyareontome

I never rated high too highly though before this year. Proven me wrong as he has many others.
I was the same and am loving the fact that he's proved me quite wrong.

Is Alex RANCE the most improved player in the AFL in 2011?

Geez he has been great. Can't believe how far he has come. Courage personified, unbelieveable transformation in kicking ability and decision making and still so much room for improvement! Also very good rebounding and let me put it out there that at this rate he will be an All Australian during his career.

I love Alex Rance. He always puts in 100%. He's had his knockers, but his hard work and his form this year he's proven his doubters wrong. Hope he can continue on in season 2012. He played a fantastic game today. Rance is showing what happens when you are given one position and stay there.

Holds the backline together these days, I'm predicting he'll be one of the best fullbacks we've had in the past 30 years. Tough, breaks lines, fearless, good spoiling technique, disposal has improved out of sight and he's even starting to take some strong marks. Never lost the faith with Rancey and it just goes to show that patience is required of the tall timber.

I cannot see him becoming a serviceable player. Best think to do is to trade him.

Anyone who needs a lesson in why it's never a good idea to write off a 20 year old....

Quickly becoming a favourite.
Am unashamed to say that he is my favourite player and was rare fan last year. Love the way he goes about it.

Think some posters gey away too easily with their hatred for players one moment then "happy he has proved me wrong" statements.*smile* me.

Can you believe I posted this regarding Rance almost 4 years ago. Not sure if I've been vindicated but we had a few of similar opinions on PRE -

Fair call, many have been quick to dismiss Rance even though he's still only 21. It shouldn't come as a surprise he's nailed down fullback given that he played there as a junior and did it well. As for being better than Kreuzer, that's up for debate but he deserved to go a lot higher than pick 18 in the 2007 draft. Emma Quayle even made note of the fact that he was ranked in just about everybody's top 10 yet amazingly slid down the order. I reckon that ounce of luck in some way atones for the debacle which occured one pick later.

Reckon you might find some negatives from me in this thread last year. Rance is fast becoming a favourite of mine. His kicking and decision making are real highlights, its been an amazing improvement. Agree his development has highlighted the risk in calling futures too early. Nahas another that is clearly an AFL standard player whom I would have happily seen the back of.
