JF, I'm sure you noticed they served it up to waite on a plate on most occasions, carltons forward 50 looked like green acres, land spreadin'out so far and wide, and with Murphy and simpson poppin

the pill into him , it became absolute silver service. And yes, I do think it was lack of midfield pressure that allowed the time and space for these guys to impersonate Hermes. Alex battled manfully all

day, and didn't lower his colours, all we could ask for in a developing backman. Every time he left the field he was spent, and he didn't stop until the final siren.

Up the other end, Carlton flooded huge amounts of players into our forward line, whenever we haphazardly moved the ball forward. Stark contrast.

Will for whatever reason was abysmal. His only weapon in his game, his spoil, was non- existant on at least 3-4 one on one occasions when he should have had his opponent cold, and the ball

really
was just begging to be cleared. If you can't take the ball, get some body on the opponent at least. Will did niether, and was hardly in the contest.

No I realise that was the case for the majority of time, but there were occasions when it was simply a high ball and 2 guys shoulder to shoulder that Im referring too ......... was clearly outmarked on a few occasions due to Waites superior body-positioning, those are the areas of his game that he needs to keep working and improving, along with the awareness issues also.

While i thought last year he had all the characteristics of a JON, i think he is probably one of the most improved at Tigerland this year.

Yep credit where it is due, he certainly has improved. Still has some chinks to iron out, like most of our players do, but he is moving in the right direction.

Easily, in my book. A dasher, with courage to boot. Find a genuine full back and keep Rance away from the monsters and we have the makings of a backline.

We need players with the character of Alex Rance. For all his faults, he is showing steady improvement and never stops trying, no matter how great the odds.

Wars have been won by blokes with this same attitude.

I thought he was our best player today. Made one real mistake, and owned Pods.

Keep up the improvement Alex!

Played a lone hand down back. With the amount of ball coming into Geelongs forward 50 and to keep Pods quiet was impressive.

he was hopeless last year and people were calling for his head. was given games and his confidence grew. he was actually worse than Post has been this year.

Yeah, I reckon. Be great to get Grimes back, maybe Moore, and recruit another decent tall kid and small defender. Makings of a decent backline.

I really thought he was gone. Couldn't see any value in him.

sometimes it's amazing what game time and confidence can do for a young player. yet we persist with mcguane, jackson and edwards.

He will be in our top 5 in the B&F.
I hope he wins it.
BTW, some PRE's predicted he'd be our most improved player this year.

If Rance wasn't hamstrung by players like McGuane and Thursfield who are not up to AFL level then the Richmond backline might actually appear to be competent. I can't wait for 2012 when they can get a fit Astbury and Grimes alongside him.

what makes you think mcguane won't be there.

Rance is the king of the 1st quarter brainfarts. Missed 2 easy spoils early on and who can forget the howlers in the Bombers game.

Is getting better one on one but still lacks the smarts to be anything more than a battler.
