Rance isn't a quick thinker, but generally arrives at decent decisions. The more time McGuane is given to ponder, the more perilous the situation becomes.

Spot on. Rance was really good again last night. I like the way he changes from defence mode (get the fist in bring it to ground) to attack mode (running hard forward with the ball or without it). Brown was made to work for every touch.

Certainly matched Brown for strength. I was impressed with his one on ones with Brown when the game was up 4 grabs in the last quarter.

Tigersnake I was at the game last night . At times Brown was 15-20 metres from me . He was moving fine .

As i said he is not the player he was but he is still pretty good .
I was there too sinner. Section 21. He moves fine as long as he doesn.t have to turn or stop. Watch him agaan
Hes still smart so times his runs to perfection to try and compensate..

Section 21 . You actually said earlier he was shot . he's far from shot .

Anyway opinions only .

The free kick against Rance, simply wasn't there....he beat the Brown Dog last night, just, but a scalp's a scalp. "The Tross" is coming good :clap :clap

Chapeau young man...Chapeau!!

Agree that Brown looks to be on the slide but he can still take a grab and Rance outpointed him easily.

Am glad the kid is trending up, he has the body shape, size aggression and run, that is lacking in most other defenders on the list.

Its good to see a couple of big blokes, Vickery/Rance, with a bit of karmichael in them rather than leaving all the dirty work to Kingy.

Rance sounds like he's a confident young man, and I'm sure that confidence is growing with the improvement in his game

Amazing the amount of players that have improved under DH, an they have been all different types of players, compared to TWs lack of improvment

Sad thing is it feels we have had more substantive player development under 1.5 years of Hardwick than 4.5 years of Wally. Maybe you do need to talk to your players more than once a year

Yeah of course opinions only. You shouldn't have to qualify every throw away line, but I suppose that is what makes a discussion forum go around sohere goes:

Brown is shot. By shot, i mean shot as a superstar, or even elite KPP let alone CHF. He still has great hands, smarts and of course heart, and is still worth having in a young crap side for his historic aura and presence, at least until end 2012. But he may not make it that long, sides will realise very quickly that he now has the turning circle of a mack truck (maybe he is injured, but I doubt it), and his days will be numbered.

That free he staged for sat night was as cunning as a sh!thouse rat. In real time I would have paid it, watching on replay nowhere near it. He'll be relying on that kind of thing more and more.

all up, shot. I was making the point because Rance played well, but lets see how he goes on Jack Darling or Sam Reid, ie, the JBs of his generation.

Watched bits and pieces of the replay again last night and his disposal by foot has improved remarkably. Dramatic improvement and reliability, touché.

If his decision making can further improve it will solve a heap of defensive problems.

Reid absolutely smashed him 3 weeks ago.

Reid had a hot 15 minutes where he took 3 good grabs and kicked a goal or two, not all of it directly on Rance. The Swans were on top at the time and the ball coming in fast and often. The rest of the game he was very quiet and I'd hardly describe the game overall as an absolute smashing.
