Alex Rance

Rance's improvement is exceptional.

Imagine if the footy committee had done what many PRE'ers had posted last year and chopped him.

Well, wouldn't that have been a shame.

Shows, you have to give tall defenders time.

But I don't think it is time to say he has arrived either Phanto - as mentioned earlier, let's see how opposition clubs try to exploit him first. If Rance is this impactive at the end of 2012 - I think we can all make that call you mentioned above.

Like as in the Browne thread, for Rance to be doing what he is doing at 21yo is incredible.
Especially last night against one of the AFL's great all-time forwards.

Courage personified, I'm comfortable in the knowledge we now have a long term fullback. And to think people were crying over the fact we overlooked Tayte Pears. :hihi

Not gunna conceed an inch to Rancealot, Phar Ace.

Kids a 21 year old twenty or thirty gamer holding down the key back slot. There's not a real lot of experienced key sized support for him at the moment and he's standing up bloody well.

No, i think you are misreading my intentions. I thought he was fantastic and probably our most improved over the last 5-7 weeks. We'd have been lost without him. But a swallow not a summer maketh, and the real proof of his arrival as anything like a permanent FB won't really be known until other Clubs start trying to exploit him. Would be fantastic if he could get through that, but like McGuane he has a certain clumsiness that I worry about. I've conceded metres mate, as I was one who wouldn't have been unhappy to see him traded to Freo or WC last period. Was critical in our win last night!

Disposal has also improved remarkably. Still scope for improvement but to compare him to mcguane now is laughable.

Im with you PA, jury's still out on quite a few of these blokes who have shown a tendency to be up and down form wise like a Coca Cola Championship YoYo, Rant's is one of those, I certainly wouldn't be making statements like what he is doing is "incredible" ?..........what exactly is he doing that warrants that type of response ?
He's courageous and honest, no doubt at that, but still has questionable decision making skills and an awkardness about his game that needs refining while continuing to strive for that consistency in his game every week also.

"Long term FULLBACK" ???

I think he played the whole game at CHB yesty didn't he ?

I agree with Pharacio about the worry with his clumsiness. He is a guy who can undo a great night's work with a couple of silly free kicks, turnovers, or general mistakes. Still, he has certainly improved and was very good last night.

Splitting hairs there Frosty, he's been taking on the big burly forwards every week. He's a KPD defender, whether that be at fullback or CHB. Sure, he's prone to the odd lapse in concentration but he's still young, will be a 150 gamer for sure.

have to disagree. The brown of old is gone. Was def not moving fine. Straight line player only now, dunno how long he can get away with that. At the use by date for a gun collision chf in a side that has played a lot of finals
Tigersnake I was at the game last night . At times Brown was 15-20 metres from me . He was moving fine .

As i said he is not the player he was but he is still pretty good .

I think the question markds on rance's disposal are way off. His kicking has been very good this year. His ability to hit a target on the switch has been a highlight to me. The most improved trophy is going to be well earned this year with Rance/Nahas/Vickery going so well.

To be fair I think you both alluding to similar things - just said differently. Don't think Brown took a contested mark did he - most were out in front as I recall.

Anyone know if the game is going to be replayed on 10 / One at all this week - left strict instructions at home to record it  Really hard to get good help these days ;D

Rance isn't a quick thinker, but generally arrives at decent decisions. The more time McGuane is given to ponder, the more perilous the situation becomes.

Yes, unfortunately Luke's football thoughts are so slow they have momentum
