Good question when they clearly were.

We were 1 pt up late in the game and they gave us an additional 8 pts to make up for the missed super goals.

Was amateur hour...pretty sure Leppa protested to the ump/officials

Thanks Nico. I haven’t watched the 2nd half yet.

Why were Short’s and Moore’s goals from outside 40m late in the first half not considered zooper goals?

And the two clowns calling the game Taylor and Brayshaw didn't notice, because they were talking sh!te about everything but the football.

And what's the deal with interviewing players on the sideline during the game?
We missed a Zooper goal

Took the 3 and 5 year old yesterday for a look. A great game to take the kids to with a nice fun family friendly vibe.

Cheap afternoons entertainment and went home with a bag full of zooper doopers.

No way my kids would sit through a full game so this was a nice alternative.

Gee some on here are negative. If a few of the tigers stars had played I would have given it a double thumbs up.

The highlight for me was definitely Balta. Was great to c Conca running around as well.

Right. I've been to many a dreary pre-season game - it's hard to fire up this time of year. All-up this was a bit of fun. Good to see the kids.

Anyone reckon George will end up a better player than butler ?

George was his usual mixed bag. Does some things brilliantly & other times makes pretty basic errors. Personally I see more upside in Butler as I can see a transition to the midfield but time will tell.

Well I managed to get a look at a couple of X factor games, but only coz the Tiggies were playing.

Things I liked.
Preferred the yellow strip to the black one, musta reminded me of our flag win in our away strip.
Loved the way that the maggots once again proved they have no idea n just make things up as they go along. That zooper goal rule was pretty simple to stuff up twice.
Loved the way the boys hunted, more of that coming up in the real stuff.
Loved having a peek at the newbies n fringe players, always a pleasure to see kids take their early career steps.
Loved coming through unscathed, dread players getting serious injuries during meaningless practice drills.

Things I loathed.
Useless last *smile* touch rule. Player busts his proverbials to get in a smother or spills a mark attempt when the ball is near the boundary and is penalised for his efforts.
The actual concept of the game. It's nothing more than short sharp training drills that clubs execute to improve skills and establish playing structures n running patterns in preparation for a season of football.
Loathed the trumpeting of some sort of Finals and Premiers concept over a handful of training drills it's demeaning of the actual game itself.
Loath the media dribble n hype over something so inconsequential as an experiment.
Loath the way AFL is trying to own everything regarding sporting media for 12 months of the year. There's barely any build up or anticipation to a new season of footy through the natural hybernation of the game. There's just a constant churn of second n third rate insignificance hyped up into a constant barrage, there's no savoring or anticipating the up coming event any more.

Grump n rant over for now. It's almost time for the sense of anticipation that comes for a footy season starting, need to clear the mind for the proper practice matches and the onslaught of our flag raising ceremony.

Well done mate. I too would take young kids. It’s a great way to get their interest going. I hope they were dressed in their tigers gear.

Just on this..if they're going to bring it in it should be a handball back into play as opposed to a kick. A free kick is waaay too big a penalty.

God forbid ToO that the AFL brings this into the proper season - it would lose one of the real arts to our game - the ruckman fighting it out for first possession from a throw in. Some of those deft taps are simply magic to watch and at times do result in goals.......

Agree re ruckmen. One of Nankervis' to Cotchin last year really highlighted that skill. Quite often though it is just a 50/50.
Not suggesting bringing it in for the regular season but a kick in for last touch is ridiculous, especially when close to goal. Anyways I hope it's the last we see of AFLX. If were ever going to trial something like that it would be best in the pre season games first.

Great to see Reecey Conca out there looking pretty good. Provides us with really good quality depth if he stays fit.

If he stays fit, he’ll be more than depth.

As far as a concept is concerned, it's largely irrelevant.
I think it was Dan Hannerbery during the broadcast, who mentioned AFLX was an important development for the game in the Northern states, as it allowed local rugby grounds to be utilized to accommodate the growing participation rates amongst juniors. I see his point.
If looked at strategically, these local juniors then go on to be potential academy selections for the Northern clubs. Realistically, local junior development/ Academy access is the only way the Northern clubs can be self sustaining , long term.
Take a gander at this http://www.sydneyswans.com.au/academy/about/talent-search

The International appeal is a smokescreen in my opinion, maybe some great travel junkets involved, and a strategy to actively grow the game organically in the North rather than financially throwing unsustainable amounts of cash at the problem gets my tick.

North and brisbane went hard to win
Brisbane would struggle in the VFL let alone in the AFL. Will be lucky to win 4 games
North are in big trouble 3 or 4 more bottom finishes might have them moved off shore.

Mitch Robinson celebrating like they had won a home and away final.
