AFL Player Dies in Las Vegas

What a horrible thing to happen. Hopefully his family can pull through this, my thoughts go with them. The Port Adelaide football club must be very shaken by this as well.

Life is too short.

Awful, feel sick in the guts, used to teach his current girlfriend, a lovely girl.

Every time I go out or go away my mum always insists on being safe and "don't do anything stupid", and of course we brush it off...
Can't even imagine what his parents are going through right now.

Especially on the flight over, absolutely horrible.

Numbing.

But until the players identity is confirmed, we shouldn't really speculate on who it was.

This.

Although its all over Twitter, the media still aren't reporting out of respect.

Agree. I'll modify the heading to remove the reference just in case it's incorrect. The grapevine is usually accurate on this kind of thing but it would be awful to be discussing the wrong person.

Thanks Rosy. I didn't know how. Even more awful for someone who knew him reading about it first here.

No worries TT. I modified my own post to remove the personal reference too. It's easy for us to assume something is official when it's all over the net.

without stating the name that was mentioned earlier in this thread, is there actually any doubt that its not the player mentioned?

I haven't heard any other name mentioned. I think it's fairly safe to say it is the person whose name is all over the place, but until the important people in his life all know about it, it's wrong to name him.

Really horrible tragedy.
My deepest sympathies and thoughts go out to all of his family and friends. Black day for the AFL community.
May he rest in peace.

Such a sad day for the footy community regardless of who you follow. Even sadder day for all his friends and family and condelances to all those that are close to him, these incidents certainly put everything in perspective. To a certain extent, who really cares of how, why, who or what happened and the *smile* sinister stories that may eventuate (ie alcohol or drugs), a young man has lost his life.

Rosy, Would it worthwhile sending the Port Adelaide F.C an email from all of us at PRE to let them know we are thinking of them and more importantly the family at such a time??

Fantastic sentiment Archyboy, well said.
