AFL Player Dies in Las Vegas

This is a reminder that for all the abuse of players and clubs people we're all part of a broader footy family. This tragic incident transcends team loyalties. R.I.P. Heartfelt sympathy to all affected in any way.

Big task ahead of the incoming coach to help them deal with this.

Not the right time for this type of comment, but I think a senior, experienced coach will be a must now.

oh dear not good for his family and friends
to receive this news from so far away.

wonder if skylarking was a factor... :'(
It's an obvious first thought - but let's hope not. It's bad enough anyway.

Geez talk about fate. Just read a story yesterday where a 40 year old bloke celebrating his birthday fell off the cliff and died.

My deepest condolences to his family and friends, playing group and officials at both Collingwood and Port, whom he spent a considerable amount of time with.
Unlucky to not become a Tiger last year.
A big wake up call to all players and anyone partying in Vegas.

Has the name of the player involved been confirmed? I assumed that he must have been seeing he's named here but just searched and I can't find any confirmation from official sources.

Sad for his family and also his teammates, especially if any were unfortunate enough to see it happen. I am guessing its something they will never forget.

RIP

Sliding doors. Port dont get involved he signs for Richmond and is alive today. Tragic and very sad news that a young life is taken.

Can see some very strict boundaries put in place for all future EOS trips.

Name not yet confirmed Rosy. Still verifying all family have been told before media outlets can officially report. Almost all holding back at this point. I Don't feel all that good about it being up here just yet TBH.

Agree. I'll modify the heading to remove the reference just in case it's incorrect. The grapevine is usually accurate on this kind of thing but it would be awful to be discussing the wrong person.

Port have confirmed it's one of their players but haven't mentioned the name.

Robbo on SEN says he knows who it is and while he refuses to confirm it, he knows the twitterverse has named the player as has another news org.

Was just saying that to my partner exactly the same thing, horrible news.

Every time I go out or go away my mum always insists on being safe and "don't do anything stupid", and of course we brush it off...
Can't even imagine what his parents are going through right now.
