Adem Yze

The enthusiasm that he has for the job was obvious to all I think. He looked genuinely stoked to be in this position.

I think we can lift next year too. I was bullish about our chances in 2023 and was largely proven wrong but I think that was down to 4 things.
1 - A drop off in workrate standards
2 - The loss of Lynch really unstabilised our forward line and created a structure that made it hard to score
3 - Defensively we looked older
4 - Our midfield at times looked slow

I think we can bounce strongly by fixing these core issues.
1 - I reckon Yze fixes this one sharpish
2 - Fingers crossed Lynch is fit for the start of the year, moon boot is now off, lets hope the bone has healed properly this time. Kozi will help to straighten us up
3 - The return of Gibcus is very much a part of this
4 - The hardest part to fix, but I reckon part of this will come down to ball movement, slick ball movement makes you look quicker than pure foot speed does. It will be interesting to see what Yze does here, but I reckon some players will be switched around. I quite like the idea of Rioli into the midfield in some capacity, maybe the wing. Yze teams in the past have had good kicking wingmen or those that have speed (Isaac Smith, Langdon etc) so maybe a move for Rioli into the midfield to be a first receiver out of the stoppage, Bolton perm midfield would help here too, maybe even Dow, if his ain job is to extract the ball, evade and then handball to a player coming through. Positional changes in the pre-season will be very interesting. Caesar, make sure you are rested up, pre-season looks like a big one for you :)
All good points - The most important part of our game must be to improve our ability to tackle strongly and limit the opposition unloading the ball. This is the most pronounced difference between '17-'20 and '21-'23

There’s an element of risk with Yze which I actually love.

I’ve always been a fan of x-factor - in players, tactics, coaches, administration. I don’t think you win flags without it.

If - IF - Yze is as tactically gifted as he is renowned to be then we are in for a serious, serious ride.

Love the appointment.

It was very refreshing to hear Benny say we have lost our way a bit over the last three years and we need to get back on track. They have made a tough but very strong decision. It would have been easier to stick with Mini and put their head in the sand that standards haven't dropped. The golden era of Dimma is over. The time of Yze has begun.

I can see a 10 year Dynasty with Yze.
We are a financially strong Club with a winning culture.
The thing I know from people from the Balkans and former Soviet block countries. Family is everything and they will use whatever tools are at their disposal to win a battle. They bleed for the Brotherhood and expect everyone else to do the same.
This is why he stated that he has no problems with Mini staying on as he understands the value in the relationships that he has cultivated with the players over a long period of time.

All good points Posh.

I'd add a couple more:
5 - our tackling has disappeared completely, oppo players just walk through us.
6 - kicking for goal was/is abysmal, how many games last year & this did we lose through poor conversion rates.
7 - player accountability/laziness, not switched on (whatever you want to call it.

All were very obvious for the last 2 years imo.

All can be rectified quickly & easily with an adjustment of mjndset.
I eagerly await the coming preseason.

Agree Carts. I also get the idea that Mini's probably like Andy Collins and doesn't really want to be a senior coach.

If so, and he stays, it'll help our players a lot by not feeling lost and lonely as you do with a new coach.
I think he does. He wouldn’t have gone through the interview process otherwise. He had to present and sell the Club on his vision, which he did. Suggestion was he presented well. I doubt you would put yourself through that if you weren’t all the keen on the job.

I doubt Mini stays, when Brendon was asked the question his head was saying no while he was saying some spin

I just remember one night in the presser when asked, he answered in a "yeah, I might as well try" type answer.

Gale stated that the team had become unrecognisable, and Yze stated that his coaching would deliver clarity around how the team will play.

This for me is perfect as I would expect ‘clarity’ to not only account for playing structures and game day tactics, but also for what is expected and acceptable regarding commitment and effort.

The Tiges may not currently have the list profile or balance that is required to be a top 4 team, but they can at least play with hunger and commitment, which is all we want to see as supporters.

The Bulldogs and St. Kilda games this year for me were performances from a team that was not being coached by someone that had the team believing.

Way too much love here. Can we ask him to select a team so we can start second guessing him.

The Oooze has picked up on the Richmond lingo, he said that Dusty is an amazing "Richmond Man"
I picked up on that as well.

He's definitely had some media training already. I reckon the Mini and other Assistants were pre-prepared answers. I could see Gale turn his head, almost to say stay on track.
He'd clearly sold himself on change, Gale quoting Yze "you live in the past, your die in the present".

The other bit - I'm assuming that was his daughter in camera shot. How happy was she to be watching. Huge smile.

Nice to feel positive about the place again. Footy Clubs sell hope. Yze sold plenty.

Welcome Adem.

I thought he spoke incredibly well.

Reading between the lines from Gale, there were some heavily veiled shots at Dimma, which given some of his nonsense recently was a good, considered return of serve.

Anyway, onwards and upwards.

Clearly Dimma checked out after October 2020.

Good to have a real Man at the helm.
