Adem Yze

To be fair he was pretty much on the record from the start that there wouldn’t be sweeping changes to the gameplan mid season.

Kingsley has largely adapted our gameplan at GWS. McRae at Port. Key difference is quality of personnel. We need more speed & better disposal to compete.
Yep. Who knows, he may have done himself a disservice.

Plough was our hope, then we "T I I D S " through diversity, we transformed our club, we created innovation and included, whilst Delivering 3 Premiership and strengthen our club, admin and finance.

Or not. We could have gotten absolutely thrashed if he’d confused the playing group mid season. He’s still a leading contender for the job.
His role was delineated as caretaker coach. If he took the reigns afresh it would be interesting to see where he took things.

Since we build the gameplan that is taking the competetion by storm, every other club will now follow, we should be one step ahead on what is needed to counter such a game plan to stay in front of the curve.

I would be more interesting in someone coming and telling us, the counter to the gameplan instead of trying to play catch up to implement it again. Will put us behind the 8 Ball again.

Melbourne have arguably been the best side in the last 3 years, but their lack of an elite key forward has killed them this year and last in finals. I would love to see Yze bring to Richmond some ideas that have made Melbourne a great side, especially after this year where we regressed badly. Yes Mini was at the helm for some wins but 4/5 of those were against bottom 5 teams, and we hardly played convincing footy at all in those games, let alone the games we got belted. He’s also been at the club almost a decade. If it’s a popularity contest then Mini will win, if we’re serious about our “new era” and want to emulate the top sides currently then we’ll go with Yze.
Remember what happened with Teague when all the players loved and endorsed him when he was caretaker coach… lasted 2 years.

I McQualter did a solid job. 10.5 wins is pretty solid for where we're at. But Club has a swag of credits in the bank and I'll back whoever they appoint.

Indeed. It’d be interesting to know whether he had to coach to instruction ie stick to the same game plan or whether he had “cate blanchett”.

Yeah, sacked Ratts and Teague was the 'better' one, so they thought. But the Blooze were sh!t anyway with no success compared to us. My positive on Mini is that he could coach just like what Fly and Kingsley have shown, expect that they had pre-seasons to build everything and Mini hasn't. It'll be interesting to see if he doesn't get the job. Probably will head to the Aints.

Difference is Fly and Kingsley have taken up head coach jobs at another club. I don’t like the idea of Mini being with us for so long then being our head coach. It’s time for someone to come in with new ideas and new perspectives on the players, not all this matey matey *smile* we’re seeing with Mini. Yes, be friends with the players etc but to me he couldn’t make the hard calls on senior players who didn’t deserve to be gifted games all season

I agree, mini is too comfortable with the players, its ok to be friendly but there needs to be some distance so hard decisions are made

THe positive somewhat out of all of this is that the club is going thru a proper process. It could have been very easily given to mini after those wins but they are making him go thru what the others are to select the candidate If mini comes out best, then i am comfortable as a process was followed. If he doesn't, the then selectors have determined that there is a better candidate which demonstrates they did the right thing by making everyone go thru the same process and hopefully show no favouritisms.

So if that's the case your position would have ruled out Fly or Kingsley becoming senior coach. Your view might be right but need to apply it consistently.

Most teams are playing faster running attacking football - it's nothing new or unique. Dimma turned the tide in 2017 when teams like Geelong, Collingwood and West Coast were playing a slow possession, boring style, which other teams were trying to copy and we went the other direction. The timing of this change turned out to be perfect for us as we were ahead of the curve and it yielded us 3 flags. Since then however most teams and coaches have adopted this style somewhat.

Just making the point that Kingsley also was close a couple of times before getting the giants job
I agree Sin. Has no one on these boards ever been knocked back for a job before getting a similar role elsewhere? That line of thinking kinda assumes someone can't get more knowledge or improve skills and become successful later.
I was more interested in what the rumoured things Yze was meant to be improving were.

I actually think the Dogs had started changing things in that direction the year before & we built on it.

Also both clubs players were getting a fresh voice , does seem though that “ our “ old game plan is the go , however as I say the cattle build the ranch

Same for me. What is it that Yze has done at Melb to earn the plaudits. Maybe they may not have been knocked out 2 years running in straight sets if he had been in charge? I dunno. Not 100% sure what his involvement is and what is Goodwins. They have a decent list. But have been shown up 2 years running when the going gets hotter. Have not fixed their goal kicking after having more scoring shots in their last 3 consecutive finals. Might not be his area. Some of the positional moves on Friday night were mystifying to me. Again, that might not be area of authority. If it was….then would like to know what on earth he was thinking. But it might all be Goodwin. There seems to be something NQR at the D’s at the moment.

Fly and Kingsley were not given the chance to show us match-day selections
