Acceptance - we are now a middling side

Is Clarke good with talls? I think that question is yet to be answered, I haven't seen much evidence to date he has a Larkey up the sleeve.
Did he take Chol? Ryan could be a good one. Tylar young looks like a tick. Both not typical U18. Gibcus early ticks the box but we are looking for a tall between 25 ish and 50.

Early days BH but I really like Caddy and Curtin. Caddy has been playing some centre square minutes as well as key forward, Curtin is currently playing forward in the WA colts after being a dominant key back last year, Archie Reid is showing plenty and there is at least two tall Academy picks to go in the top 20. So far, I reckon it's looking pretty strong. Curtin is looking every bit a top 5 pick. Really keen to see him in the champs. So far, I reckon this draft crop is looking very good.
Wasn't Curtin a defender last year? I must admit I haven't been closely monitoring the juniors given our lack of draft capital but if he transitions to a key forward then he is indeed in the frame for top 5.

Chol was a Jackson pick, Gibcus a fair shout & Balta a value pick but still way too light for where we need to be be. We should really have 2-3 other talls cooking, this is an area that has been neglected for far too long. We have all thrown up suggestions over the years but none ever come to pass. A state league guy like Young a solid pick but nothing which suggests our rebuild is tracking in a manner which would rival Melbourne or any other top tier team. The Dees have gone from a basket case to one of the best in the biz & they are still stockpiling tall talent.

Maybe we'll pinch Larkey instead :)) ;)
He fits the bill, I reckon our chances of Larkey are much better than Himmelberg if the truth be known. I would expect Harry to be a very hot commodity, I think he commands 800k+.

But I'm certainly accepting that the side is shot to shitt with injuries and poor preparation.

Larkey looks to have more upside as a player going forward than HH but thats only from the small sample size Ive seen as Harry has entered his prime whereas Larkey is still a pup.

I wouldnt really know to be honest.

Whats your thoughts Bully ?

Yep Curtin was a key back last year and super classy. As a key position player he is also the bloke you want kicking the ball. If he keeps up this form as a forward I reckon he is a cert to be first tall taken. On a side note, the TAC camera work on the app is so much better, you can watch all games and get a decent feel. Doesn't feel like you are 500 meters away.

I wouldn't be targeting HH.
He hasn't fired a shot.
I know, I've got him in Supercoach, been scoring 40's and 50's.
I'm trading him out.

In fact he's been playing like bullus_hit, bullus_hit! :mhihi
Sorry, couldn't pass it up.

I think the season is shot with our injuries. We couldn't beat Gold Coast and North last year without Tommy. There is still a lot to be gained for the rest of the season to set us up for next year. Just a few thoughts.

- I think we need to trial a different midfield mix. I think Taranto and Hopper playing virtually as full time mids has cut down the time the likes of Bolton are getting. We are too one paced we need to give different players like Bolton, Pickett, Bakes and Dusty more of a run through there. I am not sure what other role Hopper can play but Taranto can be moved forward at times.
- We need to Pick which kids are going to be a part of the next tilt like we did on Saturday and keep playing them. We need to rotate others into the team so we can make decisions on them.
- We need to review the pre season program and look at our soft tissue injuries. Were they preventable or not ? Do we have the right fitness staff in place ?
- Cotch needs to get to 300 games. You have to treat your legends with respect. I would play him off half back for a few games in the Luke Hodge general type role.
- We need to be looking at where we are at. It might be necessary to trade out a few players to get back into the 2023 draft if we think we are a few years off our next flag. Did we make a mistake in trading out a future first for Hopper ?
- We need to look at starting the seasons better. We probably aren't as good as the teams of old and can't expect to build into the seasons like we once did. Especially when our draw is so hard early on.

It's going to be hard to get a decent established forward,so we should be looking at cheaper options.
Jacob Koschitzke could be a cheap option ,at 198cm and still only 22,he might be a forward option,or even a key back.
We aren't going to get a Curtain or Caddy in this year's draft ,unless we trade out a big name,as it looks at the moment Naish will be one of our picks.

Harry is a low risk play given he can play at both ends, I think that flexibility makes him a very desirable commodity. Larkey & Marshall are the two youngsters worth pursuing, I think they will be reasonably priced but you never know in an open market feeding frenzy. If Hipwood & Jenkins can command a king's ransom there is potential for inflationary pressures. This is also the problem with relying too heavily on free agency, you are paying a premium for second tier talent. McStay is another I could reference.

Agree play Taranto as pressure forward can play tall and small, great in stoppages and take some pressure off MJ having to be the ‘tackler’, allowing him and Cumbo to focus on goals as well. Not necessarily forever but just to change things up until we get rolling.

More centre bounces for Dusty and Shai.

You've been absolutely spot on with this from the start. I'm glad I tied my flag to your mast relatively early on in the piece.

Carter is also becoming more and more prophetic as each game passes. Along with Caesar you form the PRE triumvirate of knowledge.

I'd be very interested in your thoughts on how we go forward from the point we find ourselves in now.

We'll win a few games and he'll flip, then accuse anyone who disagrees of being frauds.

What nonsense. Who are you to call anyone a moron.

Carts has me on ignore these days but it's easy to tell he hasn't changed much since the good old days when he told us we were all idiots for sticking with Dimma and anyone who didnt agree that McBean would be a superstar was intellectually challenged.

He works so hard on these posts too - shame he can't take a genuine critique.

Ohh Gawd. It's started. Maybe we can make a full back out of Cotch and a speedy winger out of Jack...Yep we'll find somewhere else for Taranto and Hopper... Maybe two more half back flankers to add to the pile.

Keep moving the chess pieces until we have the most versatile, unpredictable side ever to finish around tenth.

I thought the dynamic GWS duo were supposed to solve all our midfield issues. But someone always has a better idea.

I would be swapping Hopper and Tarranto through the middle rather than having both of them there so much of the time. Tarranto I reckon is very well suited to the mid/forward role and would probably enjoy it too.

Like your thinking but TT hasn’t convinced me with his kicking for goal at this point.
