2024 Training With The Ooze Crew

I think we have reason to be positive with some of the pre season results.

Seth Campbell finishing 3rd in the 2km is phenomenal. This is a kid in his 2nd pre season. A forward too BTW. If he can cover ground too, I have a really.good feeling about this kid.

Kaleb Smith's 2km is positive as has been Caesar's observations. Add this to how he dealt with the welcome video to the new draftees, I also have a great feeling about him.

Cumbo has shown he belongs at AFL level and his 2km results tell me he needs to play the high half forward role.

Fridge finishing 2nd in the 2km is also positive. He needs to step up in the midfield and from a leadership perspective and this is a great start. We need him to be our next Chimp (or even 60% thereof would be good)

Gibbo looks like he's back and we need him to be.
Jack g performance is telling as it says we ain’t done yet you fools , we just getting started , heck I'm not even 25yo

Few here recognise that Noah has the speed, attack on the ball and the marking and kicking ability to make him an outstanding prospect in our forward line.
Ideally he will play half forward.
If he plays forward all season predict a 45-55 goal year.
I’ve always been on the fence with NB in f50 , those last few games convinced me he has it , no he didnt kick the goals but he made the chances with leads and marks , heck allir was worked over ,,,he missed coz he hasn’t put the work into his routine , he can get that right he’s a nice kick , I’m excited

I'm a wait and see with Balta. We had no structure under Dimma last 2 seasons bit all over the place. Let's see what Yze can do.

I'd rather see him given free reign much akin to the way Tom Lynch played that key link role for the Crows in their 2017 side.

Not many could go with him all season until Broady shut him down in the Grand Final.

I still think defence is his best suited role, but we will see what happens.

They are asking a hell of a lot of Young as the sole big, bodied defender, and thus asking plenty of Grimes who is nearly done.

Since Balta has been training up forward
We need another tall defender can’t rely on just Young
Is Kosi training with the forwards or backs?

Rumours of Grimes demise on here are highly exaggerated.
I’m of the opinion that he is going to surprise many this season and remind us why he is so rightly revered at Tigerland.

Cmon now, as hard as it is to say about a Tiger great, he was pretty dreadful in 2023, and not a whole lot better in 2022. He may stagnate, but he won’t be getting any better

No one is denying that Grimes has been a superstar @Dont Argue but how did you think he faired last year?, to date his pre and post Xmas training has been virtually non existent, basically has not been out there first two sessions post xmas. We all hope he still has a role to play but I have actually moved on in my mind.

Off season is way too long. It's basically 6 months on, 6 months off. For the number 1 professional sport in the country the wait is too long. Should be 7/5 or 7.5/4.5 at least.
Just think, if the media had it their way, we'd have a shorter season. Imagine that, another 5-6 weeks of speculation & writing teams off multiple times before the season begins.

Imagine the media making up even more *smile* and clickbait on the longer offseason

Did anyone attend training today? If so how did the boys go and was there any match sim type drills?

I hold you personally responsible Caesar for not reporting that he has barely trained.
How am I supposed to make outlandish statements without the benefit of any facts? :ROFLMAO:
Retrospectively I’ve now changed my mind. He’s cooked

Training Today Monday 15th:

Finally training in their numbers "whohoo' easier to identify.

Coulthard: Those that follow this thread will know that on the last training session before xmas 18th Dec i reported Matty either did a bad hammy or even a knee after being escorted from the ground by two trainers. The next day at the Captains Run I lent towards hammy as he was at least out there walking around.
He was not there Friday but out there today in rehab moving pretty well and not looking far away and was very bubbly, (being 28 days since incident I am sticking with hammy although nothing on RFC website).

McCauliff, Trezise, Hayyes-Brown, Miller: All back today.

Tylar Young: Absent

Bauer: Back in rehab/conditioning doing really low level run throughs, didn't see him do an injury Friday but fear he might be a hammy guy?

Lynch: 6 laps amongst his 1 hour duties compared to two on Friday

Jack Ross: Learnt today his toe is fine just a bit tight, getting close.

Hightlight Moment: Now I can't describe it in detail but between the two of us, (we were both on the phone we pieced it together), Lefau, had about 5 repeats efforts around the midfield and then an exhausted last effort further down in defence as he lunged and spoilt the forward. Coaches and players roared their appreciation and the whole playing list came down to high five him or rustle his affro, Dusty was 2nd man in line to do so.
One act but way to go to impress your coaches, effort trumps a lot of other values.
He did have one other highlight but if i were the Ump, hands in the back would have denied his specky.

Tom Brown: Forget the 2km time trials, endurance not his go, today he was winning the full length ground sprints, (maybe 150 meters or whatever the length of PRO is?), beating the likes of Kmac, Banks, Clark etc. I am the Choo Choo at the front of the Brown train, not sure if i have any passengers as yet

Lines:

Fwds:
Balta, Fawcett, Kossi, Schofield, Mansel, Cumberland, Shai, Campbell, Steely, (doesn't read that well but better if you add a fit Lynch and Coulthard).
Seth: Showing a bit here, a nice pre-season so far.

Mids: A bit of centre clearance work today a sublime tap by Mate` to Marlion the highlight, Dusty more mid today.
Hopper very involved.

Negative Nelly: Now I don't really like being negative but this will be my last comment on junior, I reckon he will go the way of the Doddo Bird and is not in my future of the RFC, pretty disappointed in him really, (only my opinion so don't shoot me like I am shooting Bambi).

Cheers

Lucky we have you to point out the bleeding obvious. However 45-55 goals is extremely optimistic although of course I hope you are right.
