2024 Training With The Ooze Crew

In my opinion age wasn't the main reason for our fall off in performance over the last couple of years but more of largely sticking to an old coaching formula past its sell by date, not working on the basics enough and not progressing with more innovative ideas like most of the other clubs. We only lost Jack and Trent last season and still have a number of the 22 who are in or close to their 30's so we will have to see how they go in 2024. With Yze we have a clean slate to progress on the field with both older and younger players

I didn't realise we were not using the corridor enough. Depends on how the opposition defends the corridor too. Maybe leading out wide is often the only option. I've seen us move it into the corridor from the back flank and wings so does he mean he's going to change that? Bit risky to play down the corridor from full back! Anyway why would Yze advertise our game plan? Once we start playing a few matches it will be clear what we are trying to do I guess.
Yea I’m the same we most def didn’t play malthouse style boundary football , there’s always a balance usually balanced on state of the game , time will tell , it’s an aggressive play

Pretty well , while melb quickly adopted the advantage of stand rule and used their kickers, we complained about it , teams also loaded up behind the ball to negate our chaos brand , never know how that took so long tbh . And yep our assets began to tire so the mix was never quite right in producing a winning score

Tom Lynch in the last week has spent about 20 - 30 minutes at the start of the session on the turf over in rehab doing some very low key stuff, (no running), and just a couple of 15 metre kicks on his left foot before heading back into his indoor program.
Given we were told Tom would not be training until the New Year I suppose we can't expect much more.

One thing about Jack Graham he looks bloody fit.
Contract / free agent year for him.

He's going to have a big one IMO given how he's doing a full preseason and looks trimmer.

Clubs will come hard for him if he has a big season - either way, we will benefit whichever way this goes.

Tambling/Reece Conca vibes with the pick. ...plucking one out of obscurity. 10/10 for the story. 1/10 for need,..

Evens out with the success of Young, Tresize, Bauer.
We don't have a need for quick, high pressure, small forwards?
It's not 2018 anymore.

Say what you like about the success of Tambling pick but he wasn't a pick out of obscurity, he was highly touted. Conca also was not picked from obscurity, from memory he was seen as a pick in the mid teens to early 20s. There have been a few picks from obscurity who have been successful, probably the most prominent being Stewart at the Cats
Personally I am keeping my powder dry on Coulthard, not yet 100% convinced. We do need small forwards but to me we need a small forward who also kicks goals
Is he that guy? Dunno

I wish it was 2017. Peak George, Dan R & Dan Butler
The idea was already a carcas by late 2022.
Dimma, Mini played way too many of his type 2023.

Give me footy skills. I'm hoping Clarke, Cumbo Sonsie are a walk up starts

Leave Baker and Bolton there as a small forwards.

The moment he played Mansell and not Cumberland in the first game was telling for me.
Then to play Cotch, Pickett and Prestia as forwards, it left no room for our natural forwards on our list. I get the feeling Yze will have a very different set up.

Yeah, bizarre comparisons- a pick 4 and a pick 6 to a MSD pick. and 2 guys who were highly rated- especially Tambling.
And if Coulthard ends up playing as many games as those 2 did, he will have been a successful pick.

We attacked the corridor plenty 2017-2023

The difference will be the mode of transition

More clinical, less feral

Hard to beat predictable if it's down fast and skillfully.

We just did the fast past with feral chaos.
