2024 Training With The Ooze Crew

GWS has had a heap of talent for years and they’ve never won a flag. The Suns haven’t even finished above 12th in their entire history. They may have a talented list now, and have been chocka block full of high end picks for years. The 4 first round academy picks last year will help them but they’ll take a few years, by which stage Collins and Witts will be gone, two of their most important players. They may well win a flag in Dimma’s time but I still have the Giants (and others) way ahead of them
GWS had the talent but not the right coaching or game plan and wasted the talent

Dimma said he’s trying to implement his game plan based around turnovers on a team that’s really good at stoppages and not so good at creating turnovers, so who’s to say his message will translate with that group? And who’s to say his game plan isn’t outdated as well? We were pretty poor in 2021, decent in 2022, but back to poor last year. Maybe the game has gone past him? He also had some really strong assistant coaches during our dynasty and a strong club behind him. Time will tell

Hardwicks brain is fried from too much sun and wearing that Sunvisor like Chris Evert instead of a proper hat.

Hard to see ML playing game 0 but maybe that is the way it will turn.
I'd like to be seeing both Koshitsme n Upmykiltie playing against Colonwood in our official practice match. Let them fight for the right to play their first game in the seniors in round zero alongside Balta.

Yep, he’s already marveling at them… we better prepare ourselves for 6 straight Gold Coast flags

“Speaking to AFL.com.au just weeks before coaching his first game, Hardwick says Gold Coast is further advanced than he expected.

"I've never seen a side eat up work like these guys have," he said.

"God, they can just run, and I've got to utilise that strength.

"They're just sponges. They love learning.

"I wasn't quite sure where we'd be with our gameplan implementation, but I've been really pleased with how far we've progressed so quickly

Aren’t they just fantastic. Oh and he says this too…

Asked whether he still believed there was 80 per cent of a premiership list at his disposal, Hardwick was clear.

"I nearly think I've got 100 per cent of it to be fair," he said.
Dimma's rebranded them beautifully: The Gold Coast Sponges.

His game plan that Fly implemented at Collingwood won the 2023 premiership

When you have that much talent on a list im sure they will work out how to fully implement the pressure game style
Kingsley proved that last year with GWS and how he turned them around after just half the season

You have to call it as it is, a Good Coach with a good game plan and a list chockers with talent

Those clubs evolved his game plan since the stand rule. We didn’t adjust to it nor evolve under Dimma after 2020. Just because he was a 3 time premiership coach with us, doesn’t mean he’ll walk into that club and all of a sudden they win premierships. That’s all I’ll say on that, we’ll see how it all unfolds over time

I know this will go against the grain but Dimma is correct and has the team to win a flag

There is just so much talent at his disposal its not funny

Might not be in 2024 but he has got a list we would only dream about

But can he hold onto them is the question
The talent is there in that team. As it should well be I won’t count the amount of first round picks they have but I’d guess it’s a lot.
But I can’t see it happening.

2 ways to look at it

maybe we didnt have the cattle to evolve
No guarantee's about premierships but they will be a top 4 team consistently 2025 onwards imo
If we had that list at Richmond we would all be thinking flags

75% on our list had won premierships. If anything motivation had alot to do with our "decline".

I’m convinced it’s the quality of the players on the list and the assistant coaches who are at the coal face that ultimately win premierships.

The new generation “head coaches” are administrators, media people, and father figures when needed, and motivators.

As our players aged and retired and the club lost some very good assistant coaches the limited skill set Hardwick has, was exposed.

Instead of leaving immediately at the end of the ‘22 season he made the fatal mistake of putting himself before the club and left in the middle of the ‘23 season which sits badly with a lot of supporters and rightly so.

I am looking forward to the ‘24 season unfolding with a lot of optimism 👌

AFL to scrap Stand Rule soon ...........................................................

Expecting the Umpires to work real hard for them this season also.
They can’t do that, because that won’t just advantage GC. Maybe they’ll amend it to say that it only applies to any team that isn’t Gold Coast.

If Dimma is also going down the Sheedy road, he’s there as someone to sell the side to the corporates and the media. His team of assistants will do most of the coaching, the way it happened at GWS with Cameron and Williams doing the heavy lifting while Sheeds shook hands and dropped one liners for the press.
