2024 Richmond Coach

Seems Mini is intent on playing Balta forward. Gets a tick from me for this.
Balta as a forward is essential if Tom Lynch doesn’t fully recover. It will take more time for him to adjust but there’s every reason to believe he can match it with the best.

None of us on the outside know who the best candidate is. Just hope the selection panel have the adequate expertise and judgement to make the right call.
Yes.

I must admit however that the thought of Newy coming back has a romance to it. That’s ok, I’m not on the panel !!!

If if what’s the IF ?
I’m convinced Mini Dimma was chosen as the successor 7 years ago

I believe it was a part of the Tiger's plan from back in the SOS days.

Hardwick was a lucky pickup, as Mini's parents had already been instructed to conceive a son, and ensure he had a love of all things AFL.

His primary and secondary teachers were brought into the fold, with all being told to ensure he got good grades, and followed AFL; I am sure all of his major projects were around AFL, Einstein, Confucius and Sun Tsu.

Thirty-odd years later, we have our generational coach, who will lead us back to the promised land for the next 75 years of premierships.

Reckon its down to either Newy or Mini from here on.

I wonder if the team selection on Sunday is a sign that Mini may have been given a potential headsup that he might be the coach. Swinging our forward line around with Balta forward, a look to our future wings with Ross and Banks in there might be an indication of where our 1st team could be going next year.

He sounded like he was the man going forward in his presser. Gee he speaks well and gives the media nothing, whilst still being pleasant and funny

Mini knew he had the job years ago

Their was never a process

Monday it will be official and the media will finally know what we've all known for years

Balta played most of his junior footy as a forward/utility, the state carnival was his first taste as a defender which he showed plenty of promise. I think he's our best shot at filling one of the two glaring deficiencies up forward, Gibcus another who could transition but a little further behind when it comes to forward craft.

Balta has almost no forward craft. He is simply a big powerful athlete who can kick it a mile.

Is he capable of learning some craft is the big question.

Given he hasn't had a decent run up there I would be reserving judgement, you nailed it with the power forward assessment, that's what he represents and those types should be treated like gold. It's the hardest position to play period, that's why so many fail, even if they come with a decorated junior CV. Balta has the tools - 60 metre range, an impressive three step burst, decent contested marking credentials. What he needs is someone like Jack to teach him the nuances of leading & working in tandem with our other forwards, that takes time and requires a fair degree of patience.

Not only that, but we need a CHF hitting the wings with contested marking. We can't rely on Lynch to do this and we have no one else.

I am with you Jazz. I dont see the forward smarts in Balta.

If the club is going to go down this path, he needs to spend the entire summer working as a forward.

All we need now is someone to teach him.

Love the selections of Brown and Tresize Maybe we will now get a glimpse now of where Mini wants to take the group with the greats retirements. The more interesting will be who gets dropped. Presumably. Daniel will be rested with these 2 inclusions

Of corse he did
of course there wasn’t
Amazing the AFL media haven’t picked up on this scoop that we knew all along from 2016

Mini was the brains behind 2019-20 not Kingsley. I have been told, McQualter is a superb tactician and is extremely highly-rated internally and also by many others who have been around him in footy.

I believe he was always earmarked as Hardwick's successor hence he didn't bother applying for the other roles which came up 2020 onwards

I am trusting the process

I see you joined PRE in April 2016. Wasnt that when Mini was anointed coach in waiting?

Is that you Mini?
