2024 Richmond Coach

So no more sacked coaches as assistants?
Yeah,
Beavis had a benevolent "halfway house" set up for all sacked coaches for a while there.
Chocco.
Leppa.
Truck.
Teague Train.

Happy with a clean cut.
Sorry Mini.
X.

"Hello Newman!"

It doesn't matter, even if they can't we'll have enough money in the soft cap to cover both.

My biggest hope is for Lambert to coach our VFL team.

Great idea on Lambert coaching the VFL team.

TBH I would keep Rutten. He has a track record of developing KPDs (Rance, Astbury, Grimes and now Balta and Young).

Would love to nab a recently retired high culture player like a Selwood, Ziebell, Hurn, Shuey, Kennedy

I'd be wanting to poach the likes of James Rahilly (Adelaide forwards coach), Rohan Smith (Western Bulldogs defence coach), Lenny Hayes (St Kilda midfield coach), & Andy Collins (Hawthorn development coach).

What's the contract situation with existing assistant coaches? Can they be moved on?
My understanding is that their contracts are a lot more like a ‘normal’ employment contract than players or senior coaches - they have a rolling ongoing contract that can be terminated by either side with an agreed notice period - thus we probably wouldn’t have to pay compensation for Newman or Grigg.

On the club side the usual practice is for clubs to inform them whether they’ll be retained for the following season by August 1st. Whether this is different when a club only has an interim senior coach, I’m not sure.

Nothing suggests Yze is front runner all its saying he is part of the process which we already knew. I'm sure Livingstone called the hawks regarding Newman, hawks just haven't bothered to tell anyone.

It’s between Yze and Mini for mine. Not sure Newy has enough experience and hasn’t gone through as many processes just yet as much as I love him.
A.....Didn't realise Yze had experience coaching his own team?
B..... Maybe Newman decided not to go through previous processes as he knew he wasn't ready?

Agree. This is the first time it has been ackowledged by someone close to him that Yze is part of the process. Newy admitted it himself. Mini has said it.

Guido and Clarke have only just been reported externally with no specific reference to a comment from anyone close to the coach or process.

smart money for tactics junkies like me is to look at Hawthorn under Mitchell - fair chance Newy would bring some exciting IP with him and there's an even fairer chance he sold a tactical vision to the interview panel that transcended the old chaos thing we're still kicking along like a can on the road
I heard Mitchell interviewed a few months ago.

He said they didn’t want to be playing the football that would be win the premiership right now as they didn’t have the squad to do that. They wanted to be playing the way that would win a flag in a few years time. If someone has the smarts to work that out then good on them. If newy has this IP then great.

Chris Scott was probably the only one who knew the stand rule was coming.

I don’t get the love for Newman and to be honest his the last I want. Part of our loosing culture and poor on field team. I don’t get this motion he was part of the change of direction , when he left and Lids club went upwards. Even how bad Wallace was as a coach he was part of the team that knifed him I can't stand players who do that.

Mini is the coach don't believe everything you Read in msm
McQualter if we find out that this account is yours then you deserve a statue at Punt Rd for trolling, and would have my absolute respect and full endorsement as coach.

Newman has more than enough experience. Some would argue more than Mini. Successfully coached his own team for 2 years for 1 premiership and 1 coach of the year award. Key figure during the Wallace debacle , captain under Hardwick as well and coached under Clarkson and the super impressive Mitchell. Has coached forwards mids and backs.

Yes Mini has been our interim coach but his biggest supporters on this forum claim he hasn’t been able to do what he wants because you can’t change the game plan mid season, so how much can you read into this coaching experience? Apart from that he’s been Dimma disciple for his entire coaching career.

Of the two Newman has had a better apprenticeship in my opinion
