2024 Richmond Coach

Agree it’s a real blow he’s pulled out but reckon if you’re a good coach you’ll back yourself in to be a success no matter where you go. Think it’s more likely he Hinkley signs on for another year or 2 and Carr will be announced as successor.
Real blow? Nup. Who does he think he is, giving up on this job?
He may never get another similar chance, and it can move past him in a twinkling. Example off top of my head is Brian Royal

Seriously? This is an opportunity to be senior coach of an AFL club. We're a top club. Even if we're on the way down, that is a challenge for a new coach and normal for a new coach, you don't take the reins when on top. Even if we've stuffed up the process, thats a challenge to improve the club once you get the job.

Anyone who is dropping out is not fair dinkum, doesn't want it, or has a bizaare inflated view of themselves if they are waiting for some imagined perfect gig...

They have either dropped out because they don't think they're ready, fair enough, or they don't want to be scorned or they don't like us, in which case they can get stuffed and we don't want them.
Yep exactly.

OR, the industry knows who we want to be in the last three.

OR, the industry think Mini has it.

Going for jobs and not getting them has hurt assistant coaches, blokes are making sure they don’t get tagged with runners up medals. No big deal, don’t panic folks.

Everything said here and what I've seen in the media indicates that Richmond is going through the process and not leaking out what is happening.

The media response is predictable - wild speculation.

Add in that anyone who was not short-listed will leak what they can (not much) and gild the lily, and we end up where we are now.

Just listen to the media stories, they are so speculative, there is so little evidence being presented.

When Richmond are good and ready we will announce the new coach and the media and a lot of pundits will finally have some real info, not that the stories will reflect this, they will claim they knew all along, they will make it up.

Personally I am warming to Newman, sounds like just the time for him to be stepping into a senior coaching role and the fact he played for us but has now been elsewhere, and has had success, looks to me to be a very good combo. As long as the ideas, strategy etc he presents are credible and realistic I reckon he looks like a very good prospect.

The last 2 weeks the players have looked confused and at times disinterested. The game plan is so bad its bordering on a joke. Mini can't be given the job
Mini is not to blame for the game plan. Limits clearly put in place when his tenure began. Same game plan and same team,
at least until it is no longer possible to play finals.
Why is the better question?
Dimma knew we were stuffed after ESS if not before, not because we wouldn’t play in September but because he could see that the changes he engineered pre season were not improving the teams performance in terms of an ability to beat the better teams.
Lynch and Gibcus didn’t help.

My point is those thinking Mini has already blown his chances I think have it wrong.

So you think we did a deal with GWS to lose games so they get a better pick and they give us something in exchange?

The excuses for Mini and the game plan are coming through thick and fast, but there is no excuse for some of his baffling selections.

There’s some merit in that that he’s been a bit of a sitting duck and who else would have exceeded what he did ,,,,I just worry about the pattern of defeats ,,,we didn’t have to win all these games but have cricket scores kicked against us tells me that team rules have been abandoned , and it reflects poorly on the coach
