Mini is in a tough spot..
Hear me out; he takes over when the club is still in with a chance to plays finals.. gets a few early wins.. gets a few pats on the back (both internally and externally).. finds himself in a position where he's widely tipped as the "clear frontrunner".. team puts in a few pathetic performances.. now looks like being chewed up and spat out
Now, I'm not saying I want him to be the next senior coach, but I don't think it's fair to be putting a line through his name just because of our recent poor form.
Realistically, he has inherited a game plan and structure than cannot be abandoned mid year when still contending for Finals. His only option was to keep picking the best 22 in his eyes and deploying the same game style to hopefully lead us to finals.
People that know him say he has a seriously smart football mind. I wonder what he could do with a full pre season. What would he change? What would he keep the same?
Again, I want to reiterate, I'm not campaigning for him to get the job.. but if Gale and co go through the process and pick him at the end of it, I will support their decision and go with it. After all, they're the ones sitting in on these meetings/ presentations.
There is still so much talent on this list. All we need is a system and structure that the boys can buy into.
