2024 Richmond Coach

Impressive summary below but it would be good to know why Yze failed in the Giants and Bummers position.

Apprantly brilliant 1on1 development and game day tactics

But is poor at relationships and connections struggles with 44 blokes

Will always be a line coach I'm afraid

Also hasn't coached a team outright so won't be getting the richmond job

It's mini vs mini atm no other options

You should never have the caretaker be one of the applicants. He should immediately remove himself from taking over if he has aspirations on coaching. It doesn't do himself and other applicants any favours if he takes the caretaker role. Feel the club has dropped the ball here.
Spot on H.

Line coaches are generally well liked by players as the role is essentially more friendly and personable and they don't have to be responsible for hard calls.

I just keep hearing from good sources that Yze isn't a coach. Outstanding game day coach. But not a great culture builder. Can't pull a group together.

I never met a wife who knocks back $300k a year increase in salary ever.

Seems pretty clear he’d rather take a risk at Port than take on our list.

Both Leppa and Carr have knocked back the gig now. Unthinkable 12mths ago.
Leppa was no chance complete exaggeration he didn't get offered the job

If some have little nuts so no balls to follow a club through its cycle after 3 flags then that's on you, I know personally I have, grow a pair and stop spitting the dummy.

Also, there is a real stigma placed on senior coaching candidates missing out on jobs.

This has hurt us with Mini being seen as such a short favourite.

Some won't go through the process with the high likelihood they miss.

This is why Leysy wouldn't be surprised if Benny parachutes a couple into the last stage.

i.e. Leppitsch. He looks to have everything we need after Dimma. i.e. big personality, tactically astute, experience, presence, Richmond way etc.

If we asked him to present with the final 1 or 2. Reckon he would.
Can't fault the guy as a coach. I may be wrong but my only concern about Leppitsch is he comes across as a laid back nice guy who likes being friends with the players. We don't need a friend or a tyrant but someone in the middle who has the respect and can drive our guys forward

I was thinking about that last night. Might be a need to change tact a bit here and overtly encourage a Leppa to have a formal crack at it.

Originally, for a few reasons, I wasn't sure about Leppa being a replacement for Dimma but looking at the shortlist, I'm thinking he might be preferable. This shortlist appears really underwhelming. Probably get the next Dimma out of one of them now that I've said that.....
If Leppa hasn't applied then no point chasing him. If he wanted to go back into the 'hot kitchen', with all the workload and stress required of an AFL coach, then he would have applied.

So far from what we've been told so far Carr, Leppitsch, Graham, & Charlie Chaplin have withdrawn themselves from vying for the job and yet it's a plumb job that everyone wants?
Many say they have withdrawn from the race but could well reconsider the job if the club ambition, support and money is there

If we want to continue being really *smile* and get access to early picks then McQualter is your man. Then you have Clarke and his recruiting team stuffing up those early picks. The place needs a really good shake up full stop.

Just going on what the rumblings and musings I've read and heard.

I've got no idea.

Even after the era weve enjoyed which surpassed anything we could've have dreamed and wished for, it's like the spectre of old Richmond is showing up and looking over the shoulder in the misty mirror.
So no substance in what you posted Craigyboy?
