2024 Richmond Coach

The Tigers' process has seen those interested in the role apply for the position, a different approach than some of the other recent coach searches undertaken by clubs, with Richmond shortlisting a handful of leading candidates last week….

It’s one of the biggest clubs in the land, Josh Carr is crazy.

Or.

It’s too big a job and those who know, know that the rebuild coach never makes it through to finals.
If Benny is to be believed, we will not rebuild. Recent draft decisions are all the supporting evidence you need.

Im warming to the idea of Newman. Has the hard edge u need to be a good coach. Did it the hard way as a player… coach of the year in the VFL a few years back..coached Box Hill to a flag.

Plenty say he was the one to turn the culture at Punt Rd way back when. He is separated enough from the current group to negate any matey type stuff.

Has Benny taken his eyes off the ball.
he stated he was looking forward to getting under the hood after we had blown our loads by Rd 7.
which I found an interesting thing to say..

I think only Newman and Mini have been confirmed as being on the short-list.
Says something to me.

I’m not sure on Mini and definitely not sure on Newman.

I would have preferred someone outside of the RFC , whether player or assistant.

Does Newman have what it takes to be what we need or does his connection to the past able to rebuild the club?

Maybe I’m not articulating my view properly across to you all.

In 2010 Dimma had a nice start to the 2017 flag with high draft picks Jack, Cotch, Dusty and Shedda with a couple of classy smokies in Rancey and Dylan.
Seven superstars.
I was just responding to your statement that applicants may think the rebuild coach never makes it to finals. Dimma was the rebuild coach and he made it to finals and more.

Any applicant for the tiger job would be encouraged to know that. They would see a club that now backs the right coach.

The Richmond job is one of the plumb jobs in footy now.

Any love for ash hansen

Premiership player
Premiership assistant coach
Premiership senior coach in vfl

I'd be very very concerned if Carr told the club we need to rebuild and Benny and the Jets don't want to go down that path as 100K members each years looks and sounds good. If Mini gets the gig you can almost guarantee that was the conversation as they could easily dictate to Mini how to approach his tenure. Reckon the Taranto and Hopper trades might have a big part to play in it all

This.
Rebuilding coaches never make it through. I'm guessing the coaches left in the running have either said they can use our list to get to finals and those who've elected to stay out (Carr, Chaplin, Graham) have protected their interests.

Rumours in SA are that Hinkley has a 2 year extension. 2024 as head coach.
2025 as a Snr Footy Advisor. Carr been told he'll be head coach in 25.

To be honest coaches who rule themselves out I'll keep right away from they want a plum job and scared of a rebuild and hardwork.
