2024 Richmond Coach

That's actually a real blow, people tell me he is a very good prospect. You want the very best field you can in these things.

To have a guy like that choose to pass probably says something about where our list is heading as well.

Agree it’s a real blow he’s pulled out but reckon if you’re a good coach you’ll back yourself in to be a success no matter where you go. Think it’s more likely he Hinkley signs on for another year or 2 and Carr will be announced as successor.

also funny how short listing happened on Friday and he withdraws today, possible he didn’t make the short listing and this is a way of saving face

Yes indeed.
Our list is in a bit of bother and there are no quick fixes.
It’s going to take some time to rebuild.

If he wasn't shortlisted, he's out anyway. Something's happened at Port with Koch and Hinkley for him to call this suddenly.

Carr was top 3 I thought, must of been promised port job in next 24 months or be on huge money.

Carr was never gonna be a prospective coach.

An overlooked but very important attribute of any prospective coach is actually wanting the job. Carr, whatever his reasons did not want it… or he got cut.

So, I think whomever takes the job is on a hiding to nothing. Following a dynasty era never goes well for the next generation in any sport - with the very odd, rare exception.
We'll need a rebuild of sorts (thinking more 2016 than 2010 style), and patience amongst supporters. I think we've got a stable off field, but if Benny goes in 18 months, a new CEO might want their own team. Not great for head coaches.

FFS.

Yet another opportunity to take a pot shot out our club.

You, or anyone wouldn't have the faintest clue as to why he turned us down.

1. He could have been offered the Port coaching position in a handover (Ken doing the next couple of years before handing it over to Carr)
2. He was of the opinion that Mini was in the box seat and therefore didn't want to apply and potentially damage his reputation if he wasn't successful
3. Hinkley's contract not going to be renewed and Carr given the role
4. Any other reason knows one knows about

If he is concerned about the state of the list, then he's not the right applicant as I don't know of many coaching appointments where the state of the list is in great shape.

Carr wants to be handed a finals or premiership capable list on a plate then good luck. He might be waiting a while.

The ego is a very sad and pathetic man with obvious issues.

Why is it a blow ? He is currently coaching Port at the moment and officially gets the gig at end of year

Listening to a podcast with Shorty and Boobs Broad and they mentioned the leadership group has detailed to the club what they want and expect from our next coach.
Are they the same leadership group who have been poor across the board in the last 2 seasons? I think our new coach is the one who needs to gives directions to put a cracker up the hopefully new leadership group!

Yep. Would have nothing to do with our list. If you’ve got concerns you outline that and it’s part of your pitch. What aspiring senior coach wouldn’t want to coach Richmond? There is obviously agreements in place with PA and the suggestion his wife wants to live in Adelaide probably also has something to do with it.

You might want to read your own posts seeing your previous post was also questioning our list.

Actually he's outstanding in just about every way you could name. That's probably why you are obsessed with him.

Not sure about that, if Carlton win tonight Port would be odds on to finish second. If they make a prelim I doubt Hinckley gets flicked, if they make a Grand Final or better he definitely doesn't.

The only x factor might be the Gold Coast or someone else pinching him but not sure that's likely either.

Almost. I have a bit of an interest with people with untreated personality defects. ;)

Destination club - LOL

We can’t even get a Port assistant interested. Shows how stuffed our list really is.
