2024 Richmond Coach

Collingwood do the same but only do so if they are organised defensively. So if the opposition have moved the ball quickly and they are not set defensively, they will play slow with sideways and backwards kicks until they are ready. Often the Collingwood charge comes off the second turnover, ie opposition charge, Collingwood win and go slow, opposition win ball and then Collingwood get the turnover set and charge.
This is what I have been unable to analyse, and seems to work bloody well.

As the primary workforce, how they react to the manager is important.
Dimma talks about shifting the coaches desks nearer to the food/social areas which subsequently helped improve relatiobships and connection between players and coaches.

But people would underestimate Benny Gale to think he would be misguided and pick an inadequate coach because the players like him
Yeah I trust in Gale no doubt and Balme , but forth and forth most coaching is the number one priority tactics, game plan and improving players, intensity etc. Then comes the connection and empathy. Our players are to close to Mini all this endorsement and telling the club what they want in a coach I don't like.

After watching AFL all year and seeing most of the VFL today, I reckon the new coach is going to have to do something about our skills, they are below par. Too many fumbles, dropped marks etc.

Impossible without drafting. Only hope is Brown comes on and Sonsie pulls his finger out - of current next gen

Agree but feel it goes back to how poor our preseason was. This can be easily rectified.

You got to commend the club about how tight lipped this process has been. Apart from Mini we have no clue who else has applied.

The club won’t like me saying this, but I can confirm that Ridley has applied.
Is this one of those cases where they have a candidate in mind, but invite others to apply so it looks like they went through a process?

You could be right General Electric but in the case of Pidley he didn’t get an invite. He just walked up to reception with his resume and asked to speak to Benny after a 4 hour lunch at the London.

I’m not sure they have a pre ordained candidate. Don’t think that’s our style. Think we’ll do a genuine canvas.

We shall see. Time will tell. If he turns out good and our next coach not so then Carr opting out could be a disaster. So much for every potential candidate falling over themselves going for the vacancy.

I’m not really surprised at that. I never really saw Carr as a fit for us despite the hype. He comes across as a bit of a sullen and static guy to me. I’m sure he has some great attributes but not sure he’s the sort of guy that has the “global” (meaning entire club) culture outlook I suspect that we’re looking for.

Think Bantam McQualter is odds on now.

I hope Chris Newman is still in the race for the job.

Instigator of the Richmond Man concept, VFL Coach of the Year, coached his own team to a premiership and has served Clarkson and Mitchell with distinction

That's actually a real blow, people tell me he is a very good prospect. You want the very best field you can in these things.

To have a guy like that choose to pass probably says something about where our list is heading as well.

Agree it’s a real blow he’s pulled out but reckon if you’re a good coach you’ll back yourself in to be a success no matter where you go. Think it’s more likely he Hinkley signs on for another year or 2 and Carr will be announced as successor.
