2024 Richmond Coach

Why? Do the Mini knockers have anything other than he's been at the club too long?

He's probably been sitting there for years with his own ideas and not been able to do anything about it.
I bet no other person in our short list has thought more about our list and our future than he has.
He's also probably made more game day moves in 2 months than Dimma did in 10 years so he's clearly not just following suit.

No idea who the right candidate is but I'll back the brains trust to make the right decision, they're better placed than any of us.
Agree.

That's actually a real blow, people tell me he is a very good prospect. You want the very best field you can in these things.

To have a guy like that choose to pass probably says something about where our list is heading as well.

Seems odd maybe more to it like the power brokers told him, sit tight if things go pear shape in the next 1-2 years you're our man.

Disagree.
You don’t think the brains trust are in a better position to make a decision on our coach than any of us are?
I will have my own opinion but I also wanted Terry Wallace and scoffed at hawthorn being left with the untried garden gnome.
None of us would really have a clue, especially when it comes to the guys who have been assistants

I reckon it'll be all Richmond bias with the GF being: Mini v Newy.

If Jack plays next season, besides him, Duz and Grimo, I don't think many other players know Newy.

I wouldn't mind fresh ideas, a different lens on our playing group and if it was mini v newy, I hope we go, Newman who brings in a new team of assistants.

You might want to read your own posts seeing your previous post was also questioning our list.

Of course I've questioned our list. Who on earth is going to say that the list is in great shape? You haven't noticed where we are on the ladder?

But to speculate that a prospective coach won't apply because of the list and no other reason is rubbish.

And I did notice you completely ignore the rest of my post. Unusual for someone with so much to say.

Yep agree. A recent example of the players all loving their interim coach and boasting about him at every moment ended pretty terribly (Teague).

Carr did not strike me as a Richmond man. I didn’t get the hype that he was going to be a good fit. Has hasn’t coached his own side for 4 years. To not go through a coaching process is more a reflection on where he is at rather than a reflection on our Club or list etc.

Dimma didn’t strike me as a Richmond man either at the end of 2016 when the club had to sack all of his assistants ( close friends I might add )
Many have short and selected memories on PRE.
You do know that McCrae went to Pies with a team in Leppa and Bolton

Clad is lycra and going so slowly up some of the mountains I was in danger of rolling backwards, so close enough to call it even I say!
Old geezer clad in lycra n riding a pushy. As close to improper ugly as you ever want to get TBR.

Newman been head coach, Bok Hill, with whom he won a flag with in 2018.

Worked under Clarkson.

Laid the foundations of the standards at our club.

Guided Cotch when he took over as captain, telling him its not an honour, it's a responsibility.

Not against him if the coaching panel seem him suitable.

Happy to have Newman as an assistant.

Our list aint that bad. But like any club just having had massive success theres gotta be some downtime. If that's the only reason you aren't coaching Richmond you're an idiot.

So to surmise, my speculation as to why he declined the job, based on the state of our list which we both agree to be true, is rubbish and potting the club.

Your speculation of four alternative reasons, that he has been offered the Port job in the future, thinks McQualter has the job, already has the job, or because of any other unknown reason, all of which is based on nothing other than your own thoughts, is sound.

If you'll excuse the language, I feel like there is a teeny weeny double standard there.
