2024 Richmond Coach

Our next coach shouldn't be between Mini or Carr, it should be the person with the best presentation & credentials after the club has done their due diligence.
Rational posts like this have no place here. The collective hive mind of PRE have gone of their meds again and are having a bit of an episode. Best just let them wear themselves out.

Absolutely. There are many quality options out there and I trust the club to choose the right one.

I’m glad Bennys staying on for another year at least. This should give the new coach confidence that he’s supported and the club is stable off the field.

I thought he spoke lie a future coach at Club 80 when he was a player, and thought he organised our defence well before the premiership era. I have no idea how he stacks up otherwise but I'm not going to discount him.

But if he didn't apply we move on.
Yep I certainly wouldn't discount him either. Has good experience now at another successful club too. Just follow the process.

I'm thinking Carr as at the moment Hardwick is still at richmond via his coaching panel and game plan and we have not been good against quality sides.
The system worked and took us to 3 flags. There are holes that need plugging and tweaking to catch up with sides that have evolved past us but there's something we could work with. Do we take that route or sweep the decks to start another plan with a (potentially) untried coach?

Whatever way we go on the head coach, we need some new clear thinking ambitious assistants

The game plan that took us to those 3 flags doesn’t stack up anymore. There is a premium on pace and skill. Turnovers kill you. I think we need to do more than plug a few holes.

Someone new isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The game is constantly evolving and we need someone who is not only on trend but ideally ahead of the curve.

Let’s hope that whoever gets the job ticks those boxes

Do you have sauce with that or speculating?
Speculation at best.
but with some of the assistants working at clubs playing finals we might have to practice this..

What's everyone's take with 3 rounds to go OR do we wait to see how we finish off the season?
I reckon Mini has most probably dropped the job

Too much familiarity with an old system that is no longer successful as the club does not have the ability to play it anymore for extended periods.

The game has changed and so has the Tigers list profile.

Might be time for a reset and renovation towards the next new era.

what a strange situation - a caretaker coach being judged on whether he makes finals or not

not saying that's it's wrong, just highly unusual

How the hell would anyone know who might be or might not be a great coach?

Only those doing the interviews would have any idea.

Mini has done okay. With the current team would Hardwick have done better I am not so sure.

Josh Carr seems shiny and new but I wouldnt have a clue about him.

Every year there are one or two assistants whose names get thrown around as the next messiah.

I remember I was wrapped when we beat out Hawthorn to get Wallace to come to the club. That turned out well.
So did the Hawthorn faithful!

Emphasis on pace and skill is the direction the game has gone to.

Same here. First judgment is on how they were like as a player, so I always thought Wallace would be better coach than Clarko.

No, I'm asking what your thoughts are at this stage.
Josh Carr benefits from a certain hype and regard that I know nothing about. I don't follow Port Adelaide or read any media. I haven't looked at or know if Carr has a Linkedin profile. I'd never heard of him prior to his links to the gig at RFC.
Mini has been a part of RFC for a decade. Speaks well. Inherited the job in weird circumstances and has won more games
than he's lost. Has the belief of the players.
Some want new, some want newer.
My trust is with the club, and it won't come down to whether we make finals or not.

I suspect it is this way. The narrative that it’s McQualter v Carr is totally media driven
