2024 Richmond Coach

I think we need to look outside the club for fresh ideas. We can't just continue to promote from within all the time like we did with Matt Clarke and Meehan. I hope the senior players with their public backing of mini isn't the tail wagging the dog.
It isnt working and we are being left behind.

On the positive side, this could work out as good as the Eade to Poosy changeover did at the Swans.

I like Mini but he would wanna be selling something a lot different than what I am currently seeing.
I see wha my you are saying. But no coach is changing a game plan half way through the year. I want to see what we do in the off season. We need another key forward. We need Lynch back. Without those 2 key components no coach will see us improve next year.

Get rid of him before Balta and Bolton ask for Trades and sets us back to the dark years

Interestingly Sportsbet had mini at 1.50 last week with Carr at 6.00. Mini is now 1.72 with Carr at 2.50....

Players may like Mini , but we got beaten up last Friday due to poor game in particular 1st Quarter along with poor performance
You could see we were completely off when nobody manned the mark twice in the 1st Q with players told to protect corridor
The ease of which the Dogs scored and walked through our defence was a game plan situation . Obviously corrections made at 1/4 time break , but game was over then

After first couple of goals, I’m not sure why the instructions didn’t go out to play man on man for 10 minutes to force contests, swap Nank & Soldo in the ruck for a bigger body against English & send Graham or Hopper to Bontempelli as a hard tag. Really disappointing in all aspects of Q1 - lack of effort on field and lack of coaching off it.

Hmm. Part of me says absolutely NO to Mini as we need some new voices and fresh ideas. Then there is another part of me that just thinks there is something about Mini that feels like he could be really successful. Not sure what it is but i saw some fire in his belly in the presser after Bulldogs game. Some genuine hurt and dissapointment. Can almost see there might be some tough love there from Mini if needed.
Perhaps he is eased on the players knowing he wants the gig and has to play the game. No point pissing all the players off when you are an outside chance of getting a gig. He knows what made us successful. He would come very cheap which would also allows to bolster the rest of the footy dept which has suffered due to Dimma's high pay after 3 flags.

Then i am also getting a lot of Shaw vibes of Norf. Mind you that club was/is a basket case and would make it almost impossible for most to succeed.

I was a definite NO for Mini but starting to come around. Now we could come out and get hammered by the Saints and that may change again. That will be a good sign of where he is at.

If it's not Mini then the successful candidate is going to be pretty damn good IMHO.

I think we're overachieving with what we have out on the park if anything. Our cattle is in need of an overhaul more than the coaching.

Time to turn the spotlight on Hartley & especially Clarke.

I agree with everything except the overachieving. We should be much better this year. But the under-24 group isn't anything like the class that Dimma inherited in 2010, and will inherit in 2024.

Matt Clarke and Blair Hartley should also be looked at.
Why Hartley? Apart from Hardwick, he was more responsible than anyone for putting together our premiership teams. He’s also been amazing at identifying and securing talent from other clubs for trade and free agency. He’s arguably the best in the business.

But what has he done lately I hear you say?

Is Hartley list manager? Our list is a bit of a mess.

Any one notice when the players ran down the race they seemed to be laughing no look of intencity at the start of the game

Without Lynch I think we've done pretty well since Mini took over. Agree our kids aren't showing enough.
Our poor preseason has caught up with us. The Melbourne game sucked a lot out of us (Melbourne too).

I actually think whoever gets the gig is in for a bit of a slog over the first year or two. There's no messiah next year with the shape our list in in.
