2024 Richmond Coach

I remember succinctly after the Wallace debacle for the 1st time I can remember
the RFC followed a process in selecting the next coach, hence we employed Dimma.
im sure we will do this same thorough process.
its vitally important.
Theres good heads around the table to get it right

When do the assistants have to be informed if they are not required next year? Is it end of August?

Decisions soon if that is the case.

Clubs have to notify their coaching staff in August about whether they will be employed for next season in an effort to help coaches plan for the following year.

Yeah end of August TOT.

It's obviously only those out of contract though.

Not sure the status of ours. Rutten would defo have a contract for next year at least you'd assume.

Talk that our chaos/pressure gamestyle has been overtaken is..... er.... talk.
We've done well throughout this year with a ageing champs, unsettled lineups and youngsters thrown in and out.

No one has won multiple finals yet with the new age gamestyle.
Lets wait until then when the pressure ramps up and we'll see a more unstructured game.

Its why I'm happy to keep Mini.
If we follow the process and he comes up trumps

In the 'Podcast recommendations' thread Oldie posted tonight, it was interesting hearing Broady say the leadership group will present their views to the selection committee on what type of coach the players need. Mini's the favourite because they compared him to Fly, but this could lead to anything.....good or bad.

I think we need an injection of fresh ideas. Hate to say it but Im a no for Mini. Chaos ball is losing out these days.
So the colonwood game style isn’t based on chaos football? Difference being, as I see it, they have added a layer of skill in delivering the ball and are super aggressive. Still based on our successful style however they are doing it much better.

I’m expecting Damien to look like this after his 1st off season.
his fair skin will struggle to cope.
Reminds me of Tuesdays with Terry.

I’ve heard from an inside source today that Carr has it locked in the bank and has already started working on the assistants he wants to bring in

Mini to go to Gold Coast with Dima most likely

Was just going to post I heard that Josh Carr is going to be the man. If it came from Big Footy though then it's probably complete crap.

Interesting considering the panel haven’t met yet for interviews.

If that's the case then what the hell are they doing? So much for Hardwick finishing up to give us plenty of time to get things moving for next year.

Plenty of chatter about Carr last day or two. Either a big wave of BS or there is something in it. If clubs need to lock in assistants by the end of the month, it would make sense from a timing perspective.

I can't see how they give the job to McQualter with that performance last week.
That game alone is enough evidence he shouldn't be our head coach.
I was told early on Carr would have the job if he chose to move over to Vic

Weve had so much time to look for our new coach so we can hit the ground running for 2024 so not surprising if we have made the decision already. However it’s a quick appointment given applications closed not that long ago?

There's no way McQualter can get the job. He had an opportunity to put a stamp on the side and show his potential and instead has delivered Hardwick lite.

If this was a couple of years ago there is no way McRae would have coached us the way McQualter is in the same situation.

So, Josh Carr is the man despite no confirmation that he has been interviewed let alone even applied?!?? From that we can draw one of two conclusions. The process is a complete sham or, these rumours are absolute utter *smile*.

Hmm…

Big doubt they will assess him on just the losses.

Let Carr think he's got the job. One final interview. 'If you were to coach against Richmond, what would your plans be?' Schedule the interview just before the final round.

We then make the finals, beat Port in the GF and give the job to Mini.
