2024 Richmond Coach

Carr No1.
Dont want someone called Mini coaching us.
Fill in coaches never succeed
And don't give me Roo's & Longmuire. Sydney are crap

Excellent, I got time to get my application in!
Here's a tip. When you send in your application, place it inside a box of doughnuts.
Not only will it stand out, but it will give them something to eat while going over your resume.

Let me know if you need any further job application tips. (y)

Interesting points made Monday on the couch. Carr was instrumental in Freo’s success last year (finished 5th) they said Carr is a bit of an extrovert and they are missing him there. They said he went to Port believing he would be coach next season but that probably won’t happen given where Port are this season.

For me he is a standout candidate and it comes down to Mini or Carr for the top job.

Carr has done it all, including successfully coaching his own team and success seems to follow him wherever he goes, even Freo. I’d hate to miss out on this bloke and watch him coach another side to the promised land.

Big decision a head for Benny and co.

Unfortunately might be on hiding to none if it’s it not Mini. Carr/Yze will be a complete revamp or every aspect of football program for the players, whereas Mini is comfortable transition. Given players backing Mini, could be few growing pains early. Might just be the new eyes and ideas we need, although I’m impressed with Mini and would back his appointment- provided the team finishes off the season well

If the team gets over the line on Sunday, and goes on to play finals, Mini will be our next coach. 3 yeqr contract at possibly half of was Dimma was paid, leaving much more for others who share the soft cap.

Port wont let Carr go anywhere. It’s Hinkley who’ll be looking for an opening.

Good point - a lot of talk about Carr but whose to say he will apply? Might be happy to wait at Port for a few more years till Hinkley goes
I read a month or so ago that Richmond are big fans of Carr and were going to invite him to apply. Wether he accepted the invitation I don’t know but would think he’d only turn it down if Port have given him assurances that he will be coaching them next season.

If he believes he’s ready then he’s not going to wait another two years for the Port job he’d want to be coaching next year and I believe we would be an attractive proposition

Hasn't he missed out on the GWS, Essendon and Collingwood jobs...?
Doesn't appear clubs are throwing themselves at his feet for someone so highly regarded.
He was top 2 for gws and Essendon just missing out so he’s obviously being seriously considered.. and not the first to miss out on a few jobs before getting a gig. You would’ve passed on Dimma too bc he missed a job or two right?

Put a straight line through Buckleys name watched the last qtr comeback again and he was so negative about us putting Vlastuin forward on Day
That move to go one on one in the forward line stopped Dawks easily running ball out of defence

My question for all is, do folks think Mini might be a bit too Brendan Bolton? I'm not saying that because he's a little fella, but more because they are both very personable, likeable characters.

One of the (rumoured) internal criticisms of Bolton from his Carlton days I'd heard was when things went bad, he couldn't command the respect. He wasn't really a coach who'd give folks a "good bake" and have it be credible. He was too good a bloke.

Mini to me comes across as a much smarter version of Bolton. Where I can imagine Dimma not just peeling paint off the wall when required, I just can't imagine Mini doing it. Anyone else?

Funny, I heard the exact opposite of Bolton. From a Carlton player’s father. Bolton’s “Huckleberry Finn” persona in front of the media was vastly different to what he was really like behind the scenes.

Further, he had the players bored to death with meetings, and so confused with endless instructions and strategies that when they couldn’t execute them, Bolton would go into mental and verbal meltdown and then start dispensing even more meetings and instructions on everyone. Drove everyone crazy.

Control freak that couldn’t handle it when things went wrong. Think he’s on record as saying he went a bit over the top with work rates etc.

He had good relationships with Gibbs, Simpson and a few other senior players, but not with many other players I was told.

Chuckles?? No way. He was all fun and games. I can see Mini having a hard edge when he sometimes asks rhetorical questions back to the journos in the presser. Fly probably hasn't given a bake to the players yet in nearly 2 seasons and he comes across more like Chuckles.
