2024 Richmond Coach

I've faith that the process our club puts in place will unearth the best possible coach for us for the next ten years - has to be the goal. Whether that's McQualter or someone else is irrelevant as long as club is satisfied it's the right individual.
I understand how important the coach is .................... but I never lose sight that you must have the cattle.

Our victories this year have been over bottom placed teams that other teams subsequently (or previously) smashed.

The Brisbane game (and half of the Swans game) were diabolical

Poor kicking, fumbling, hospital hand passes, lack of effort, missed ground balls etc

Most players struggle to string 4 good quarters.......

I think if Jesus himself was selected as head coach he's going to find 2024 tough on the RFC :(

If Dew wants to lose weight I have a new product that works like Magic.

i can see possibly 2 scenario's

1. Dimma coaches Gold Coast (the most obvious, but being an AFL run club, is there some dislike between AFL and Dimma?)

2. Some AFL wheeling and dealing occurs, and Gold Coast get Hinkley with a lucrative long term deal, which Port arent willing to give, and Port make Josh Carr their new head coach, preventing us from getting him (who i think they've been wanting to replace Hinkley with anyway)

Listening to McQualter's media engagement, he has been expertly trained in offering short, to-the-point answers. There's no waffle and no thinking out loud which is what Dimma at times did to the benefit and detriment of his messaging

What a dumb question from the media guy asking if Mini is going to put his hand up for the Gold Coast coaching job.

Yep, throwaway the comedy Dimma put in and Mini doesn't speak in a wooden way as Longmire and Longmuir both do. I reckon Mini's got an edge in the way he looks and responds to some journos.

Things might be about to kick off.

Any chance the Bulldogs join the hunt for a new coach if they fail to make the finals?

Simpson must be hanging by a thread at West Coast and rumours still persist that Hinkley’s time is up at Port despite their stellar season.

Could be as many as 5 clubs looking for new coaches. Interesting times ahead.

Beveridge appears to escape a lot of scrutiny i reckon- one good year (which was actually 1 great month). "Journos" are probably too afraid to go there.

Bevo has turned into a tosser of the highest order. Many dogs supporters I know can’t stand him. I would imagine his assistants would have little input. Another in the Simpson bucket - would cost too much to sack

Mini has us playing a good brand of footy.
Is it a bounce from Dimma or simply really good coaching from a very good assistant?

Currently I'm leaning towards the later.
Not a lot was broken with the team, it just needed a fresh coat of paint & a tweak strategically.

Key difference to most coaching changes is we are not a basket case club where the coach got sacked because we were no good.

An untried assistant like Josh Carr may be brilliant but sometimes it's a case of better the devil you know.

I don't want change just for change sake. There are enough changes coming as is..

Mini is in the box seat atm I think.

Agree. If he and the players have good chemistry and enjoy the game plan we have, why get someone else? I'm sure he's got other ideas to bring in when/if he officially gets the job.

Im now in favour of an outsider. McQ is doing ok but as the side transitions over the next 2-3 years we need to build new philosophies and have a coach with a completely new vision. A winner, to be sure, but a new vision. And, someone who values draft picks.
