2024 Draft Thread

Looking at pick 11 and who we should take given 10 will be who is left from Allan/Lindsay.

Scanning talent on the board, have a strong preference we should take Joe Berry.

Brings some pace, class and skills that we badly need in the front half. We need front half footballers.

Has a high ceiling as well.

Adding him to Lindsay (if gets through) will add some zip, smarts and skill through the middle and forward.

make 3 of first 4 vic country boys.
Yep I reckon it will end up as Lalor, Smillie, Lindsay, Berry with our first four.

With Hynes, I'm not sure where he sits. His he a goalkicking mid, or is he a medium forward. I'm thinking possible the latter but I could be wrong.
The kid is a bull, goal kicking mid for mine. Although just as comfortable on a forward flank. If he ends up with us he probably plays a 50/50 split due to the mid talent ahead of him for now

Listening to Twomey then he's very confident the top 10 is now pretty much locked.

1. Lalor
2, FoS (North)
3. Jagga
4. Draper
5. Langford
6. Smillie
7. Tauru
8. Travaglia
9. Lindsay/Allan
10. Lindsay/Allan

Said only swing from that is Crows going Langford, which will change things about. But he thinks that is unlikely.

History says, you can now (perhaps completely) lock the above in.

Saints get two of leysy's favourite 3 that would loved to have got (along with Jagga).
The top 6 mids in this draft are as the above.

I know the club will take whoever Melbourne doesnt pick. At this stage its Smillie.

But if a curve ball is thrown in ie Tauru at 2 then we will have to make a decision. But you can lock in our first 2 picks to come from that group of 6 players.

At 10 & 11 I have Allan and Berry as my top 2 preferences.

Like I said yesterday Allan gives me Weddle vibes. Prototype modern day player.

Weddle had elite endurance and was strong overhead, probably rate his kicking a fraction better than Allan. My big concern with Allan is his disposal when kicking at full pace, this is a tough one to tidy up although not impossible.

A thought - should we only recruit from Vic Country - would be an awesome draft I reckon.

Potentially Lalor, FOS, Langford, Lindsay, Berry, Travaglia, Faull, Whitlocks x2.

We should just nominate it as the RFC Academy for tonight - no other clubs allowed to bid on these guys.

Start latter, move into the former.

Reckon he is odds on to be taken by Us if there at 18.

Be line ball if he gets there.

I'm seeing more of a medium forward. I'm seeing Will Hayward, Jake Stringer. That sort of tupe. Most of his highlights seem to be in the F50, not around the ball. Its a big swing to say that he will move into being more a mid than a forward.

Don't forget Tauru.

I'm sure someone will know, but the kid that was from our NGA, I can't remember his name. Everything has gone quiet on him, my understanding was that if he isn't bid on in either the ND or the RD, that we could automatically put him on our Cat B rookie list. Is that correct? And if so, do we reckon we do it?
