2024 Draft Thread

From what I can see his kicking is fine. Hardly Duncan Kellaway.
Hes also a physical beast with pace, massive competitor, can mark it, and has a tank.
I dont have a problem with Allan at all.

2026 right.
I know Taranto is still gonna be in there sure. Hopper who knows. Dion probably gone.

Lalor. Smillie. Allan. Greeves. When they all settle into it, that is a virtually unbeatable centre square rotation. Power out the wazooo. Good pace. SIZE omfg. Intimidation factor HIGH.
And add the WA State Captain who oozes leadership.
Then there’s the intel from our WA recruiter Sam Cousens who I rate higher than all our other resources

Having a Xmas eve KPP cram , trying to find something in a player that says possible Jack or Tom , I’m not seeing it in any of the ones touted in the teens , maybe a couple of poor man’s DTLDs . It’s as if a few have come up the rankings year because there’s not much competition, yep no doubt the big fella’s take a while and I’m not saying they are spuds, and there is bits to work with no doubt, however I wouldn’t be unhappy if we didn’t take any ( I’m sure we will ) and loaded up on mids , small forwards and running back types , again I think Tauru is the standout , Sims had the best “ clunk” and I think Dobson will be a better AFL ruck then any of the teens rated key forwards will be.

Same, I wouldn't take half of them as rookie picks. Todd Elton, Ben Griffiths, Ty Vickery... these types are so easy to defend against. Smaller players running hard into uncontrolled space are harder to stop. KPFs in the opposition's controlled space need to be elite. It's elite or bust IMO. Defenders don't have to be the absolute best individually for some reason, it's the tall forwards who fall off a cliff.

If North Melbourne retains pick #2 and doesn't take Alix Tauru, I will be gobsmacked.

He's the one player at the top echelon that club really needs. And yet there is talk they'll pass up the chance to fill a gaping hole in their list because, well, it's an 'overreach'.

If they blink and take O'Sullivan as mooted, it will frank them as the stupidest list builders in the competition.

Yes, you stuffed up your trade period and got stuck with an unworkable draft hand, but don't double down on your foolishness by selecting a player you don't need.

I might almost feel sorry for Kanga supporters if their club overthinks this decision.

They have a unicorn within reach.

Could they really botch it?

I feel for these kids and for our recruiters. I reckon this group of draftees is the most over analysed group by one team’s supporters in the history of the draft.

I’ve loved the debate, the banter and the passion but we cannot know if we have got this right tomorrow night.

I hope tomorrow night is a celebration on here not a pile on. It should be a bloody celebration!!

They wouldn't give a flying *smile* what we think, Sin, and neither should they.

I'm looking into this Shanahan. Can he catch? Yes, actually he can. If you don't heat him he will catch it cleanly. Can he jump? Yes. He can. He can get air. Can he jump AND catch? Nah. Seems nobody can these days.

He's very clean at lawn height and his hands are quick and smart. He can kick. Clean and smart.

I may have been a bit closed-minded about this kid. He can actually catch. Not many of em can. Good smarts. August birthday. Still growing. I'm having another look.

I agree that’s not really what I mean.

I just hope that we as supporters can enjoy whatever happens sharing it on here together and not have a big pile on .

When I look at the opinions there are going those who think we have picked the wrong players, it’s inevitable.

8 new baby tigers ..how good is that ?

It's actually not that much of overreach either, Tauru is the best key position player, it's semantics getting caught up in the perceived value of picks, landing O'Sullivan who is predominantly outside is also risky as all hell. North not really the best club to nurture talent like this, just look at Polec & Stephenson.

Totally agree. Tauru is probably seen as a pick 6-10 or something like that. They have pick 2, they like and need the player so take him.
I don’t even understand the debate

I am sure despite the heated debate on personal preferences everyone will get behind and support whoever we draft 😎

771 pages of permutations, combinations and guesswork is pretty impressive, when none of it actually means anything.

Amazing what footy does to the psyche.

It's human nature. Just like kids who get a high VCE score tend to choose a high score uni place instead of doing the one they actually want.
