2024 Draft Thread

If we keep pick 3,22, and give our next 5 picks it comes to 1760ish,and I'm thinking it's only good enough to get pick 9 onwards, and I'm doubtful that a extra 290 points would get us pick 9.
I'm assuming west coast finish 17th and tigers 16th.

I really like Simms. If we were going to take a key forward, he is the one for me in the late first round. Charlie Richardson is closely behind but I see him more in that second or third tall role. Simms I think will be able to ruck as well. Thinking both are in the 15-35 range.

Midfielders, key forwards. That's what I'd like to walk away from this draft with.
From the very short highlights, definitely Simms seemed the best talent.

Gold Coast Suns stold legally 4 top 20 juniors in 2023 which should of smashed their 2024 draft hand but instead they ended up with
5 TOP 31 PICKS IN 2024,LEGAL THEFT.

I guess it comes down to the end ladder though.

Brisbane whilst low now, are probably going to finish higher than they are. I just did the squiggle autopick 10 times in a row, averages and ranges of picks for certain teams that impact us are:

Richmond - Range 16-17, average 16.7
West Coast - Range 16-17, average 16.3
Freo - Range 2-5, average 3.5
Brisbane - Range 7-9, average 8
Port - Range 4-8, average 6.1
Collingwood - Ranbge 2-5, average 3.7

So we talk about Pick 6, but its more likely to be pick 10-12 with Brisbane which we can certainly afford. To get another top 10 we will need West Coasts pick as part of a Baker trade, not sure we get another top 10 another way, unless we trade a future 1st for 1 of Gold Coasts (there is both risk and reward there, for the right deal I'm open to it)

No point worrying about exact numbers as ladder positions will change.
But we have enough points for pick 5 and keep 2 and 20.

Only other type would add - Small/medium forwards. We can badly do with some class in that area of the ground.

Someone like a Kossie Pickett if any are around at our picks. Does look to be a lot more depth in the midfield this year though.

Agree we could inject some class.
But not this round.
Look at the depth we have, plus more imp is the small classy forward is easiest to bring in and impact immediately. Cyril. The Prince. Pickett. Weightman.
Drop and release.

For mine we get mids. And then more mids.

Small forward depth we have!

Think you might have made my point for Leysy Not a lot of faith in those 4 to have the opposition worried Dell Boy.

Sorta depends whats available though. You wouldn't reach, but if there is some quality available that you rank highly.

We do have S. Bolton on the list.

I think everyone is on the same page. Considering needs and how the draft is looking, mids, mids, mids, and try and snag a KP and a small forward.

Yes, depends on whats there, how we rate them.

Agree ,I actually think we can get a good key forward in the teens ,similar to when we got jack .

Surely nickname is “Crunch”?
Why wouldn't we go all greek n nickname him Malaka? He could even incite the oppo crowd by gesturing appropriately every time he kicked a goal or we won a game. Would certainly make the game day fan interaction way more robust.

We would have to give Brissy a reason to do the trade.
Otherwise they can trade with another club.
Or do no trade and use their picks 6 and 44.

whichever way they lose 6. But there needs to be incentive to give that 6 to us
Plenty of incentive, if they don't trade with us we bid, if we do, we do so with the "handshake agreement" that we won't bid.

Yes though if they trade with another club and get a better deal they wouldnt care if we bid.
WCE and Saints would bid so our agreement would save them one spot

For example Lions trade with cats.
14 34 52 70. Thats points for pick 6.
And the cats sweeten the deal with a future 2nd.

Brissy no longer cares if we bid.
