2024 Draft Thread

Bloody hell that was an impressive interview with Jags. Super smart kid. Really thinks about his football, you can tell. Very funny too. 18 going on 30 mentally.

FOS and Jags still 1-2 for me.

May mean we are confident in getting Cadman.
I think we need to tread with some caution, three of our best players have just walked, putting all the eggs in the Cadman basket is risky. We also need 2 forwards and perhaps some depth.

You've been at the coalface a bit, has Jagga ever put in a stinker? Looking at the stats I can't see any blips.

It reads Christian Petracca like in his development once drafted. But there is a risk. The Dusty vibes, I don't see as much.
There's one key difference Scoop, Petracca had already made the step from medium forward to midfield powerhouse. I'd say Lalor is a bit behind in development, I know he's a mid by trade but running 15 km a match isn't something which magically occurs.

Harvey Langford's endurance and goal kicking ability is equal to any midfielder in this draft.

I love FOS and Lalor is a beast, however Harvey is sound as a bell and I really want him at the Tigers.

Harvey Langford at pick 6 would be a great result, I would welcome a player who really wants to play for Richmond. These types are invaluable in the early stages of a rebuild.

Not that I've seen. About the "worst" I've seen was his game in the VFL against Williamstown at Willie. He had 30 disposals so people will say that's great, but a lot of them were a bit meaningless (which I acknowledge is a bit of a criticism some have of him).

But even then, that game was played at night at Williamstown of all places, in the rain and wind coming off Bass Straight, against men, so it was still good.

Otherwise, no I haven't seen any stinkers from him. He's too smart to not get a lot of the football, no matter what the game.

One other small thing I noticed with Jagpipes in that interview, is his face is starting to fill out a bit i.e. he's beginning to put a bit of weight on.

He referenced that need and said "when I build up" or something to that effect. Good.

Thats is true but i like Bauer as a 24 goal 3rd Banna along with Faucett who is untapped talent.

My son and I watched one game with FOS and Jagga. the first final of Coates league. Jagga is the same all day see ball get ball distribute ball.
The challenge I see and its not a knock really is that when momentum changed, and the opposition came back from 5 goals down Jagga had little impact to arrest momentum. FOS did.
He is a great footballer who has his place and would do his job very very well. Is he a Trent Cotchin - Dustin Martin that can swing momentum in the absolute heat of battle? I have question marks he is that type of player. So Jagga with say FOS or Lalor who can swing matches or Langford then yes Jagga is a great addition.

I don't disgree entirely but I reckon the no preseason (cricket focused) underlines the potential of what he can do.

Not testing at the combine leaves question marks. If we traded up to 1 and 2, I think I'd take Lalor and Jagga.

I want one true mid and one mid/forward weapon. Wouldn't draft FOS and Lalor together as the injury risk is too high.

Be ironic if we manage to get 1/2 & 6.
Snag all 3 "VFL" boys.
Fos/Jagga and Langford.
Great Planning that far out.

Petracca took a whilst to develop because he was lazy and subsequently overweight for the first few seasons. So much so that he was probably gettable if another club wanted him bad enough. And then the penny dropped and he got serious.
Will depend how badly Lalor wants to work as to how quickly he can develop a tank. The best players are always the ones with a fanatical desire to improve. Dusty a point in case.

Dusty was somewhat fanatical about football from a young age. Lalor has been around professional sport for a few years and his fitness is an issue? That would be somewhat of a concern to me.
