2024 Draft Thread

Norf negotiating through the media. We can be pretty confident that 2 and F1 for 6 & 11 is on the table. Maybe as the monk says with something later from our end but that's the guts of the deal. Norf want in on this draft. They currently have picks 2 & 62. They tried and failed to trade their F1 for 13.

I love our likely options at 10 & 11 in this draft: Hotton, Lindsay, Allan, an outside chance of Armstrong. It'd sting to give up one of those and possibly Smillie or Langford but to get FOS it's worth it. We could potentially trade up with say 18 & 23 for 13 and get our pick 11 man anyway.

Norf will rise next year but it's still probably a top-10, even top-5. (I think we'll try to trade it for Cadman anyway.)

If we get pick 2 you can bet your house we're taking Lalor and FOS. We're not that keen on Smith.
Agree with you except the last line.
Cadman is the new Lynch.Has Blair written all over it.

I've heard. Smith has not done anything wrong but he doesn't have the ceiling of several others in this draft. I don't think anyone will take him in the top 5.
Playing devils advocate - what if Smith has another level to go to? He has risen to the level going into the VFL and his footy has actually improved later on in the season. He has dominated at every level even including his first VFL game in atrocious conditions against big bodied men. What if there is more in him and we pass? Its a really tough decision. :peepwall

Not for me it's not.

People throw around the word 'dominate'. They must have a different definition to me. He didn't dominate the VFL. He played well.

I don't get the Cadman talk, he is under contract until 2026. No serious talk with him involved over the next five years, ,go get our version in this draft.

Langford won't go too early. We won't trade up to 2 to take him.

Carlton and Adelaide both need pace. Bad. No go there.

Melbourne only chance in top 5 ILO.
I reckon Melbourne go Armstrong or the Viking at 5 and will still get a quality mid at their next pick.

Who? Armstrong? We might.

I'm just hearing we're making a play for Cadman next year. Doesn't mean we'll get him next year but GWS in a weakened position in 2026 if he doesn't extend.

Maybe dominate is the wrong word but he was best for the Tigers in the Williamstown game. 31 Disposals - most on the ground. 20K, 5M, 11H,3T

I'm starting to think Jagga's nana must have spurned you at a blue light disco.

On that, we all have our preferred and less preferred, Lanford and Reid will be players but not in the top echelon for me.

Why do people always jump to a personal insinuation just because you rate a kid less highly than others do?

I've heard we're not into Smith in the top few. Neither am I. Leave the jibes out of it thanks.

Got nuthen
Smith (I have mail that links him to Ogilvie. But not a certainty.)

Would we trade Dyson Sharp* (from SA) for #4 in this draft? If we were really quite smitten with a player in this draft? We'd be thinking about it if we have a nice pick from Norfs for 2025.

*Dyson Sharp is the name of our 2025R1.
What would the Crows pay to get a local superstar Jack ? No doubt they’d believe they get Sharp in 13 months with our pick

Even in the worst draft of all time there was Buddy, Roughy, Lids, Griffin and Lewis at the top

So North are about to sell their future? That's great news, I'm loving this approach, next year is just as important as 2024 so flexing some muscle with our draft capital is just what the doctor ordered.

1. Lalor
2. O'Sullivan

That's our pace sorted and our midfield starting to look like top 4 material.

10. Keep this pick and I'd be grabbing a plug and play like Travaglia, Hotton is too risky here. I'd still be inching up the order to grab Langford or Smith, I think there's enough trade bait to get that over the line.

With the remaining picks I'd take Whitlock or Sims, a ruck forward is a must, if we spend some tickets on a Langford raid then Sims might be the best bet because I'm reasonably confident he's in our range. I'd also take one of Faull or Shanahan, you could mount an argument for either but perhaps Faull is better suited as we already have a crafty type in Bauer.

2025 WOULD BE A PERFECT TIME TIME TO STRIKE.
Cadman is suppose to be close with Lalor ,probably because they come from the same area ,and played a few games together at the Rebels, plus he is/was a Tiger supporter ,and he play's for a souless club,,and the big thing we can offer a huge contract with the space we will have .
He will only be 21 at the end of 2025,,all fits for me.
