2024 Draft Thread

Make it 6 and 18 and future 2nd rounder instead of first round

Doesn't make a lot of sense.

You'd prefer to gain 7 picks this year (keep 11 instead of 18)

ahead of gaining 20+ picks next year (a pick inside 6 vs pick 25-30)?

no way would do that.

The 6 & 11 for 2 & nth F1 is bloody tempting. means we keep all our picks.

To get back higher in this draft We could then potentially bundle two of our 20's picks for an earlier one, say 20 + 25 for Ports 13.

Not sure yet, but well worth considering.

Thinks its FOS & Jagga.(Been that way since they played for us IMO),
I reckon the Richmond team like taking risks with x-factor and upside - so I would say Lalor, FOS and then throw in Hotton as an option at 10/11. (Obviously if we trade for 2). Also Francis Jackson may think lightening has struck twice with Lalor.

The words ‘risks with x-factor’ give me flashbacks to JON.

I still remember being at a couple of RFC pre-draft function with Greg Miller. It was incredible inside access given to nuffies like myself - and I'm grateful to this day...but...paraphrasing good old Greg from memory...

"Selwood would never last due to his knees". (355 games)
"Selwood did meet any combine metric that would indicate success"
"You can throw a blanket over JON, Courtney Dempsey and Travis Varcoe - all have x-factor" (my memory is hazy on the third player)
"Shannon Hurn is just an ordinary player without a position" (333 games)

Good times, not!

6 and 11 for 2 and let's say 5 (at worst).

Hmmm.
Not sure how you could say no to this. Don't lose a draft pick, gain #2 and have 2 x top 5 picks next year. Find it hard to believe North would entertain this but if they do I bow to our negotiation prowess.

My god, the paper reporting that lolnorf trade #2 plus a f1 for our #6 and #11

Now that’s got me thinking - on the surface it doesn’t make sense for lol but anyway it’s what the paper is reporting

Edit: just realised this has already been posted - it means we are upgrading 6 to 2 (nice) and trading out #11 for a future first which could be anywhere from #1 to #12. It’s a hard one cause #11 is going to be an odds on dam good player wit 12 months development.

The Code reporting that the deal for 2 involves 6 & 11 for 2 and Norf F1…..

Not sure what I think about this…..
Another Early F1 could be handy but I’ve gone all in on some guys around 11.

Regards,
Stan

Thats a no from me. We have the whip hand.

The question is that you are losing a very very good pick in this year draft for hopefully a good to very good pick next year - it’s not straight forward for my brain. It looks to good to be true which has me suspicious I guess

6 and 11 for 2 and F1....that would give us 4 elite , high class ,250 game, match winning mids.
And still leaves Hotten and Datolli , Hannaford , Faull and Whitlock. ( or alternatives)
Wow...9 high quality players in the space of 12 + months added to our list.
Add in some transfered players with our cash surplus...ie a ruck / running back.
Very very tempting.
It is effectively 6 and 11...for 2 and 3.

Alternately we accept FOS/Lalor and Smith and do much the same with one extra at 10..and one less next year.
We win either way.

Hope so. FOS and Jagga.
The one player in our mid who could get the ball because of his agility is now at Freo.(Not that he was used as much in our midfield as he shoulda been).
Jagga is the point of difference to anything we have.
