2024 Draft Thread

Im just trying to think of any elite mid currently playing with Langford's 20 mtr time , Bont is a very very special player and they are rare
Langford will be would be up against it at the highest level to become what he is at junior level of the game.
I trust your eye but this is a big call at pick 3-6 but in saying that i think he goes to StKila at #7 only because they need the best mid and he would be that at the pick.
Same time as Patrick Cripps, faster than Steele Sidebottom, only fractionally slower than Bont, he'll be ok. Rory Laird can run 33 km/h on match day but didn't crack 3 seconds in testing, I wouldn't be ruling out players based on the combine alone, they are helpful but not the panacea of decision making.

interesting type. 193cm utility, kicking looks a bit scrappy
He's a good kick. It was very windy that day. Had 25 and kicked 2 playing midfield. I like him. Can play either end or in the middle and a very late birthday.

Heh heh Good one Jack. If only it was true this line had express.....
I ackshelly got the pic from reddit on that very topic, TF. That said the express bit made the Donut really stand out. Perfect.

Im not as big on langford as you bullus mainly because of his speed as it was worse than i expected
But im a massive fan of Hotton & Berry and think both would add pace and skill to our already slow side and i think that speed and skill and kicking should be priority with this rebuild. Not that any comes to mind but is there currently an elite mid that had 3.25 in the 20mtr ?

Whilst we would all love more top 5 picks we just need to make the best of the 10 & 11 picks and i really believe thats where value will be in this draft.

KPF im happy with Jack Whitlock at #20 - #24

I'm with you turk. 2 of Lindsay, Berry and Hotton at 10 and 11 would be perfect. Talls come later. 1st 2 picks are for the A class mids.

Langfords risk factor as you say is that his speed doesn't allow him to play enough midfield minutes. Could become a Langford at Essendon type, as a mid size forward. Probably his floor there you'd think.

Clubs able to trade picks live on draft night
If Lolnorf havent traded away pick 2 before the draft
Cartoon can wait and see who we pick at 1 before committing to trading picks with lolnorf for pick 2

Langford has an elite tank, I can't see him benched like Brodie for example. I think there's a truckload more risk picking a player coming off an ACL injury than a player who doesn't have a 3 step burst. Langford is also a mad keen Tiger supporter, you probably don't have to stress about defections in this instance.

Why would they need or want to trade with only one pick between them?

His tank is elite. Playing midfield is not an issue.

If we pick Lalor at 1
Cartoon would compete with us to get Lolnorf pick 2 to use on FOS
If we pick FOS IMO Cartoon will just let the draft play out and wait for their pick at 3

Speaking to St Kilda supporters at and behind the bar at the London Tavern tonight it was unanimous that they want back to back midfielders, preferable with pace or explosiveness to compliment their mundane midfield.
Sounds a bit like us.

Where's the part about his kicking ?
The one glaring area for improvement with Gross is his end product. He tends to have the blinkers on when in range of goal, often blazing away and finishing poorly. With more composure and less rushing on his kicks, perhaps even benefiting from lowering his eyes more often, Gross could become an more prolific scoring avenue.

He is capable of measured short passes and is quite efficient both in slow play and by hand, but certainly can be more refined within the 70m radius of goal. It's nothing he can't really iron out at the next level with more work on his touch and in a strong team environment.

Ya won't have to worry about it Smokin Grasses. We won't be using 24 or less on the Grossly Bear.

I think they go 2 x Mids
Wouldn't surprise. Brayshaw gone. Clarry with Clarry issues. Peetracca just got busted up bad this year. Viney hitting the downhill age dept. Their midfield ain't quite what it used to be n prob more likely to go backwards rather than forwards in future years. Might be in need of some premium shiny new toys in there sooner rather than later.
