Langford has outstanding numbers equally compared to Smith.
He has excellent endurance.
But hes so sloooooooooooooow dont need another plodder at an early pick
We need a bit of speed with out first 2 picks

Wouldn't be disappointed if we get Lalor and Langford in our first 2 picks. Think Langford could get there if we're to believe North will go a tall and Blues are after FOS. To me Jagga is a just a little bit vanilla in certain areas such as tackling (defence) and kick penetration. Kicks out wide a lot too (obviously can be tweaked). Can usually get your outside quick mids lower in the draft. Lalor has definitely been the talk recently.

Our first 8 picks in the draft (atm) are before the 1st picks of Lions, Pies, Bombers, Cats, GC and Hawks.

Who likes Marshall?
If we bid on Ashcroft at 1 it wipes amost all of Brisbane's picks.
They can carry a deficit of 1167 pts.

So if we bid at 11 they cant match.

Only one of them jumps out as a potential Cotchin type of leader to me. Lalor shows the best leadership traits of all the top picks based on a few minutes of YouTube interviews, so if I was making the call like it's our 2005 draft... he's my guaranteed gun for pick 1* based purely on character and YouTube footage.

*Assuming he can read.

Wanted to give my thoughts seperately to the stat breakdown. 2 biggest things standing out to me:

1. Langford has more impact for the amount he gets the ball.
2. Jagga is consistent great at getting gbg's (which weren't listed for Langford) and gbg's are like gold

And then 2 big questions
1. Is it easier to make someone with high impact but less use get the ball more often? Or is it easier to train someone who gets the ball more often & off their own back (clearances & gbg's) to do more with the ball when they get it?
2. Jagga can clearly cope just fine playing against adults, we haven't seen enough about Langford to say the same for him - tho he's had less chances. Do we think that how quickly Jagga *got it* and succeeded in the VFL is meaningful? Or do we think Langford can easily get there given the chance.

Trading up worries me....

I mean Caddy, Prestia & Lynch did alright.

Nah, the real difference is that we targeted this draft. Even last year we knew that we wanted to give ourselves as many opportunities as we could, whereas GC & GWS didn't get to choose to come in on one of the most consistent & impressive draft pools of the last decade. And that stands true regardless of if we trade up.
