2024 Draft Thread

Did I hear he ran a 3.2 second sprint?
3.1 ,And has really good endurance ,Lalor is still building his fitness ,you have to remember his injuries prevented him from running for a long period of time, and Fos injury still allowed him to run .
Faull is another one who is building fitness having a long lay off to.

Pretty scrappy match by VC,some poor kicking and decision making, quite a few playing for themselves,Allies played well, and linked up really well.
VC will need to bring in another ruck and KP back if they are going to beat metro.

After seeing a game from most of the top kids now these are my wee little observations

Hardest thing without doubt in drafting is working out what the big blokes will be at AFLlevel in 4 or 5 years , see quite a few with talent , seems we are producing more big fellas with good agility nowadays , Sims just had a bit more about him then the others but I wouldn’t be shocked if 6 of the talls end up better , definitely some talent there.

Fos and Draper look the 2 “ definitely make it “ about them , love the cleaness and concentration to stay in every contest from FOS , in saying that I don’t say his a lock elite AFL midfielder, looks the best , however there’s another half dozen or so who wouldn’t shock been the best of their draft . Wouldn’t surprise me at all if Smillie did become the clear best .

Appears a good draft to ad some genuine elite skilled players like Berry

Yeah KPF's confuse me.

I like obvious competitivness and of course scoring ability

Sims and Hynes seem to have that?

Speed is king across the ground these days too

Dunno. Sprint times are just a so-so reference for mine. You're not running with a football or in the process of kicking it, you're not running on an angle or arching to escape a tackle, you're not running in football boots etc etc.

Everybody thought RCD and Daniel Jackson were quick coz they could run 20m in a straight line ok. But they were "football slow" and constantly got caught with the ball or had guys run off them with ease. Geez getting bad memories of Judd v Jackson now....brrrrr.

FOS for me. Him and Lombard stood out.

Berry very good. Very even spread of capable players. Allies Cochrane caught the eye, big athletic running KD, then saw he's a %$&&*(!) swans academy player, rotten dogs.

Bit of a non descript game for mine. Langford and Lombard solidified but outside of that, just as many questions as answers.

Not sure if venturing into the Freo game day thread has coloured my outlook but I found the VC v Allies game distinctly underwhelming….

Agree. Lot of competent performances, but not many standouts. Agree on yours, Leo being moot, Cochrane's, game I liked, as a smoky, athletic Key defende, also moot it turns out. I'll add Berry purely for pace. FOS didn't rack up the possessions, but the ones he had were quality and got better as the game went on. Considering its first up, I was impressed. Got VC home.

Apart from FOS, I'm glad I'm not calling the names out.

Draft billed as "stacked". Thats what we want.

I wasn't aware FOS was from Koroit, that another tick in the pros column.
He has two older brothers who have played in flags for Koroit. And his parents are both talented sports people.

Just watched Draper highlights. Like watching a completely different level to Vic mids. Plays the game at full bore, runs hard, and is quick. I would not complain.

If there isn't a stand out number 1.
It would be neglect not to see if a another club would trade for it.
I rather have the club have 4 picks under 20 then just 1 pick.
We should get a good pick for Baker (fingers crossed Collingwoods 1st pick)
And if Rioli wants out another pick from GC

He's like a Daniel Rioli of the midfield. A desperate need for Richmond. Big time.

Let's get Glossy Fossy and the Curtain Maker.

Once again, thank god you were not in charge in 2009.

If there was a Richo or Pavlich or Bompmytelly yes keep 1.
But the kids Beveridge and Twomey reckon the top 20 are all even.
Why not spilt pick 1 into 2 picks,
I'm only accepting eg: pick 5 and 12 or 3 & 15 type offers.
The more the better. We need a Sneezel/ Wardlaw or Butters/Rozeee or Jack/Cotchin or Edwards/Lambert.

Off BF from Davo 27.

I have no idea if he has any idea but looks to be a junior watcher.

Just interesting to see how even this draft is after the first couple. Rankings will be different for a lot of people.

The only consistency I am seeing now is FOS at 1.
