2023 mid-season rookie draft

I think the salient point is that we all know we need 1 or even 2 key position tall forwards, but, we didn't pick a tall forward.

What does that tell you?

It tells you that the recruiting staff at Richmond did not rate the tall forwards on offer at the mid season draft.

Time will tell if they were correct, but they would have very good reasons for the choice they made.

I have said before that I am frustrated at the sheer number of half back flankers we seem to pick up, and on that score I really do question what is going on.

But this draft I just get the clear impression that the Richmond recruiting staff did not rate the tall forward available, and if you don't rate them you don't draft them. Seems a reasonable way to operate.

Correct.
Just like they didn’t rate JVR.
Or maybe they just hate talls because they’re avoiding them like the plague

Yeah, the JVR assessment not looking so good at the moment. Early days but he looks pretty good. Clearly something they didn't like, or did like about Brown.

Maybe we need a fresh set of eyes to help the recruiting staff, could help.

A very good point was made somewhere that MSD hasn’t ever produced any decent talls despite several being taken , that would explain why we neglected them in fav of small, mediums

Injury list at Water Closet is so bad that when the catering lady in the canteen at the club pulled a tuck-shop arm muscle....
Probably tweaked that flappy under arm bit. Some of them tuck shop ladies can get the flappy bit fair swingin at times.

It’s always nice to see a Richmond VFL player elevated but did we really need half back number 2393474 on the list. I just don’t understand why we didn’t pick this beast when he was available at our second pick!

I looked up the WAFL the other day and noticed that, their average score kicked against them is near to 150 points.

What a mess.

DS
Yeah WC's WAFL side is apparently weighing up whether it should forfeit this round:

Second highest fantasy points of the game in 3 quarters against seasoned afl opposition (Cordy & Highmore) in his first game... Kicked 4 behinds as well...
