2023 mid-season rookie draft

This is the dregs so it hardly matters who we take. Bradtke and Bauer will probably be delisted without playing a game despite the optimism on those picks. Pickett was an outlier.

Agree - the guy that went no.1 had the potential to squeeze unto the top 30 of the national draft. Hence its 50+ for the rest.

We took a role player and gave our VFL program a boost which is not a bad result in the end. I expect we wanted Hansen but Thursfield nabbed him.

We had 44 small forwards we now have 1.
We had 43 wingers now we have 2
But we always have 2533 HBF.
Just really poor list management.
5 in 30 is a disaster.
Bauer looks like a bust already. Making a goal kicking forward into a defender when we are screaming for a goal kicker.
What's next the smurf we picked up tonight to be played out of the back pocket.
I'm shattered. Perfect opportunity to use 2 picks on 2 kids or 2 mature age marking Tall forwards

The thing I don't get to they will say we got Bradtke and Bauer now trying to make him a defender yet we don’t play either rather persist with a injured and tired Jack puzzling.

you are thinking of Jacob Bauer, a defender who has played the majority of his footy as a defender, apart from the last couple of years when he went forward.

I'm thinking of Young, i thought we took him in the Pre Season instead of Narkle, i didnt realise we had taken Bradtke as well, i havent watched much VFL this year so didnt know he existed
 
Gws also need talls especially forwards badly ,passed completely and obviously didn't rate the forwards left.
 
On points against, we've got the 5th best defence in the AFL, not sure another defender was a real need.

Looking back at it.
You wouldve got a kick In the 19 GF.
After qtr time it was like circle work.

I'd have been very happy with Hansen Jr and Coulthard to be honest as they bring what we dont have.

Needs picks are the go in this draft and Coulthard addressed that.

Not so sure about the other pick but Coulthard, looks pretty promising.

I hope the lad settles in well and the boys get around him.

Yes. Whoever was available is more likely considerably worse than any other key forward currently on an AFL list.

Callum Coleman-Jones or Levi Casboult would look like Wayne Carey next to these guys and people are having meltdowns that they weren’t selected/

This thread is extraordinary.

Let's just get them into our system and see what they can do. Our forward line is a disaster at the moment and hopefully we can find another way to make it work. Jack needs a spell..

Apparently only started playing back with our VFL. I think he previously played half forward.
